If you will bear with me, lets recap all the previous posts. I said that the Prius owners are special kind of nut for paying $30K for a compact car. You replay by saying the Prius is the size of a Camry and I reply saying the interior dimensions are closer to the Corolla than the bigger Camry. Then you said that a lot of compact cars cost $30000 and you name the Lexus IS. I replay by saying that the IS is a luxury sports car and ask you to name another car that cost $30000 that is neither a luxury car nor a sports car. The top of the line Civic cost $24000 and rather if you consider the Mazda 3 sport a sports car or not, it only cost $27000 max out.
-
Um...the Toyota Corolla...the best selling car in the country? The Mazda 3...the Honda Civic...compact cars sell really well. I am sorry, I forgot to write a compact car that cost $30000 and sells well and doesnt have a luxury nameplate or is a sports car like the IS.

I totally agree, though what we think is better, may feel different to someone else. Most of the time, the handling of a FWD car is better in the rain or snow. if thats what the OP was talking about, then I agree. The GS is not the best handling car in its class but it is rock solid doing high speed. If the OP's GS is drifting all the time on the highway, there is something wrong with it.
-
A loaded Mazda 3 is about $27000 MSRP and the Mazda 3 Sport does 0-60 in 6 seconds, I would call that a sports car. Its a great handling car as well, it a lot of car for the price, too bad the smiley face grille is so funny looking.

Are you guys kidding me? Darth Raider will live for ever :)

Please name one compact car that sells well and doesnt have a luxury nameplate or is a sports car like the IS.

Except for the current Chris Bangle design 5 series, it is one of the ugliest BMW ever made. They are so ugly that no one wants them and with the redeign coming out next year, the dealers are practically giving them away. You get get a 2 year old 5 series for under $30000. You don't see how this exchange can be insulting to me? I say that I really like the current 5 series and you come in and say "In fact its ugly, the ugliest BMW ever made, and its so ugly that no one wants them. The 3 series wagon is one ugly car, go check out the A4 advant, its a much better wagon. And how about this? nc has said that he has decided he wants a BMW 3 series wagon. You respond with "Wow that 3 series wagon is one ugly car! Look at the Audi A4 Avant...its much better than that crap you like" That is incredibly rude...and I think nc was being very respectful when all he said to you was that you were beginning to irritate him. You don't see the issue here yet when someone tells you that you are irritating them you cry about a personal attack? Dish it out and can't take it much? Lol, I didn’t call you or NC ugly, I said those BMW was ugly. Calling a car nice looking or ugly is merely an opinion, if you don’t agree with it, thats fine, no need to call me names. In my example, I didn’t call him a A hole, I use the same context as he did and I quoted: you are starting to make me think of you as a A. hole. I did not call him a A hole but just merely thought of him as one. All semantics, we can go on all day. I take the tone of your previous post to be offensive as well but I will not response with another offensive post for the good of this forum.

Even the RWD GS should handle better than FWD ES I would think.
-
I hate to say it, but that usually how it works, brand perception is big money in the US. Why do you think your ES cost $15000 more than the Camry and its almost the same car.
-
SW03ES, like I said earlier, I do not wish to discuss this personal attack incident with you further if you are not going to take it seriously. NC211, If can call someone a name and sugar coated and it is still a personal attack. What if I was to say to you " you are starting to make me think of you as a A. hole ". That is in the same context as mentioned above and I would most certainly consider that a personal attack. Yes, I was questioning why you like the Camry better than a Jag because it was out of the norm, it was not a personal attack and I was not attacking your intelligence. Much like you, I was simply trying help you out by passing on my experience with the Camry Hybrid and the GS350, take it for what its worst. I do come on too strong sometimes and I know that, please accept my apologies if I offend you in anyways. I just get too involved in heated discussions sometimes

I guess public safety is benefit from these hearings, we cannot just have cars flying sround the road at 100 MPH out of control :)

1990LS400 I absolutely think it’s ok to disagree and voice opinions on a forum like this, otherwise, if everyone agree and everyone have the same opinion, it would be rather boring. I have no brand loyalty myself, I like to ride the up-cycle of any given car company. My car buying practice is quite different from yours, I like to replace my car every few years, so reliability after 5 years is not a big concern of mine. I do agree with you that Japanese cars tend to be more reliable than the European cars after 5 years, but even that might be changing with Japanese cars getting more and more technologically advance and repair and parts cost going up. A friend of mine has a new Camry V6 sport edition at work, I was very surprised at how well that car handles.

You are wasting your breath, many poeple have tried in the pass. Now with all these safety recalls Toyota is facing, you can pretty much forget about Toyota removing the interlock and giving your money back. I pretty much gave up on Toyota and Lexus Navi, I will never buy one again. Pulling over on a highway to enter a destination when my wife is sitting next to me and can do so safely is an insult to my intellagence. It seems to me now a day, all Toyota can say is they are sorry for this and they are sorry for that, but its all lip service.

My GS handles much better than the ES, I can drive comfortably on the highway doing a 100 mph with no drifting at all. I still think there is something wrong with your GS. Did you ever get a car fax on the car, was it a CPO? The GS doesn’t handle road imperfection well, that is normal. That is one difference between a BMW and a GS, the BMW can going over imperfection at high speed and it will not affect the handling.

Lexus is the luxury division of Toyota.

I just read this on the news: A Minnesota man have been in jail for 3 years serving out a 8 year jail sentence because his Toyota Camry shot up an interstate ramp, plowing into the back of an Oldsmobile in a horrific crash that killed three people, he insist that he had done everything he could to stop the. He was driving his pregnant wife, 4-year-old daughter, father and brother home from church. In court he wept as he described the impact of his imprisonment on his wife and four children, ages 8, 5, 3 and 2, who are on welfare. The victims, Javis Trice Adams, 33, and his 10-year-old son, Javis Adams Jr., died at the scene. Adams’ 6-year-old niece, Devyn Bolton, was paralyzed from the neck down, and died shortly after Lee was convicted The prosecutor will reopen now reopen the case in light of evidence of Toyota's issues with sudden accelartion, both the victim's family and the driver plan to sue Toyota. Currenty, there are quite a few of these cases around the country, and Toyota will have to deal with this mess after all the recalls are done.

Where I come from, calling someone irritating is a personal attack, as a mod, you should know that. Please show where is my quote that you posted. You cannot because it doesn’t exist. Please do not twist my words around to make me look bad. If you are going to quote someone, use the exact words, you shouldn’t change my words around to you support your argument. With that said, I am not going to post anymore about this personal attack incident, I am try to preserves a sense of community here, not establishing one group against another. Have a good day :)

I just dont see how anybody can still say this is being blown out of proportion when there are 39 deaths attributed to sudden acceleration in Toyotas, 8.5 million vehicles recalled and thousands of complaints and accidents associated with these Toyotas. To give that horrifying number perspective, there were 27 deaths attributed to the famous (Ford) Pinto exploding gas tank of the 1970s and only 6 deaths attributed to sudden acceleration of the Audi 5000 in the 1990s. The media coverage was so intense that Audi's sudden accelaration case almost put Audi out of business here in the USA.

Just did a autotrader search here in the North East, there are 30 2007 LS460 within 300 miles of where I am that is between $30K to $40. I am sure all these cars can be negociate down further considering all mess Toyota is in right now. I too am keeping an eye out for a last model year LS460, sometimes I see as many as over 50 posted, I highest I ever saw was 70 something.

Actually it isn't a compact car, its a midsized car with interior volume that is pretty close to that of a Camry. Its a pretty versitile vehicle with the hatch and the fold down seats, and the 2010 model is a lot more comfortable and fun to drive than our 04 (which I personally don't care for) People spend more than $30k on compact cars all the time...the BMW3...the Cadillac CTS....the Audi A4...the Lexus IS...all much smaller inside than the Prius. We have two last gen Prius and current gen Prius where I work. The interior space is not quite a big as the Camry. Front leg room wise, its close to Camry, but rear leg room wise and front shoulder room wise, its cloaser to a Corolla's size. The 2010 has more comfortable seats, but the interior material is a step down from the last gen. Your list of $30K compact cars are sport luxury sedans, the Prius is not sport or luxury. Blake, most of the Prius do rattle a lot, so do the Camry Hybrid. Toyota say its due to the low noise level, I am not sure if I buy that.

These hearing and the criminal investigation will open a lot of people's eyes, they will see that Toyota is no better than the American big three as far as corruption. Memos have already shown that Toyota put profit before safety and they have been warned by quite a few people in the pass and had complains about sudden acceleration a long time ago. The best scenarios here would be Toyota will come away from this with just decline in sales and trade in value for 1 or 2 years. The worst case scenarios would be Toyota will continue its land slide. Toyota have lost money last year for the 1st time and they are predicted to lose money again this year, couple that with the cost of these recalls and the lost of sales. They might be looking at sliding into 2nd or 3rd place worldwide by next year. With the high cost of labor Toyota is now facing and Toyota’s out of control spending. They might never recover from this mess, Toyota simply cannot make cars as cheap as the Koreans and with quality sliding at Toyota, Toyota’s best days might be behind them.

I have to agree. G Man, your opinions are fine and you are entitled to them, but you have to be respectful of the opinions of others. Denigrating people's viewpoints such as saying things like "Some people like that ugly 5 series, most of them are bargain basement leasers" when others obviously have a differing viewpoint isn't fair.

Is Lexus Rx350 For Woman?
The G Man replied to logan Q's topic in 04 - 09 Lexus RX330 / RX350 / RX400h
My wife use to own a RX330 and I drive it sometimes, I have no problem with driving one but I dont particularly think its a very good looking car nor would I ever buy one for myself. This whole idea of a chick car and a man's car is kind of silly to me, I see females driving 4Runners and I see guys driving VW Beetles and I think nothing of it. It really depends on your needs and priorities. -
Shouldnt the factory bolt be metric?
