  1. I was going to start a thread but saw this one. I was on Sewell Lexus' online site and found '05 navigation update for our cars. http://www.lexus-parts.com/partlist.asp?Su...D=93&ModelID=22 Has anyone updated their 98 - 00 LS400?
  2. Hi Guys, My wife lost her master key and I'm looking at E-bay keys. I don't want to pay another $175+ for a Lexus OEM master key that may be no better than keys found on E-bay. What do you guys think about this key? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNCUT-98-99...1QQcmdZViewItem
  3. Keep them replys coming guys. ArmyofOne, how is life up in Mountain Man Country?
  4. I've had great success with Sewell's Online Store http://www.lexus-parts.com/ Cheers
  5. Hey Gusy, Is this a good deal for the Craftsman 263 pc Toolset (~$200)? http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?...pid=00933263000
  6. Welcome aboard & congrats on your new ride. She looks good. I just did a Kelly Blue Book check and for where I live that's a very good price. Again, enjoy your ride
  7. Baja, I just had all three of my motor mounts replaced this week. Only the right motor mount was bad but the left was starting to show signs. Bottom line is I replace all three for almost $600. :o I believe the part numbers are the same of 98 thru 2000 LS 400s. The motor mounts, the same for right and left, part number is 12361-50100 and cost $110.45 a piece. I know you said the Trans (12371-50060) was recently done but it's only 38.83 at www.lexus-parts.com. North Park Lexus of San Antonio honor all lexus-part’s on line price. I paid almost $260 in parts and $240 dollars in labor. If you’re replacing both right and left, I would go ahead and spend the $38.83 and replace all three. Once you pay for one side you have almost paid the labor for all three. I considered going somewhere else but decided that my piece of mind was worth more than the small savings in labor. It’s your call and good luck. BTW, I thought my ride was tight before I had motor mounts replaced. Now, it almost feels like a different car.
  8. nc211, They replaced all of the 90k service recommended fluids, plugs, filters, and gaskets. In addition, they lubed the vehicle. Hey, should I scan my invoice and post for other users? Page one of my invoice is the normal parts and labor for 90k service. Page two includes parts and labor for water pump (no labor), V-belt (no labor), tie rod, alignment, and motor mounts. Page three is just the miscellaneous parts for cabin filter, marker bulb, and an o-ring.
  9. nc211, deal. I plan on staying out of dealership for a while. I guess your right, really no harm no foul.
  10. Car's home :) NC211, you are right after spending $2216 she drives so much better and I already thought she was running smooth. Also, North Park Lexus of San Antonio did match all online prices on all parts. I just had to bring in proof of those prices. 90LS400Lexus, not really upset with leaky water pump and cracked drive belts. I was replacing them anyway. I can't stress enough for you guys who haven't had your car checked in a while to have a qualified mechanic check your steering and wheels. The mechanic told me the tie rod came apart as he was trying to replace it. I have both pieces. As some of you know, I split the cost with the previous owner on a 125 point service inspection before I bought the car. The mechanic at that dealership did not spot the bad tie rod. I'm not sure if I wish to pursue it any further.
  11. I forgot to mention to all my good board friends. Please have your wheels checked by a qualified person if you have a vehicle that has gone a while without being checked.
  12. I visited the Lexus of San Antonio Dealership today found out what was wrong with my right rear tire. It had NOTHING to do with the buzzing that I had previously mentioned. It was in fact my right front tie rod. The tie rod was separated about an inch to 1 ½ inches and could have been a major problem. The vibration that I described coming from my right rear was actually the piece of aluminum to protect exhaust was bent and touching the exhaust. Look at my 90k service post for a list of all my issues.
  13. I forgot that the dealership honored competitor’s online prices.
  14. "tie rod" SKperformance, sorry. I thought the dealer told me it was a broken tie (not tire) rod. I'll be going to the dealer Monday and post a better diagonisis of the problem & pics of part when I can.
  15. Ok, here is the latest update….. I visited the Lexus of San Antonio Dealership today and went through all the issues with my car. The number one issue was a right front tie rod. The tie rod was separated about an inch to 1 ½ inches. This was really the only problem that had me concerned because the vehicle was inspected before I bought it. The vibration that I described ealier coming from my right rear was actually a piece of aluminum to protect exhaust was bent and touching the exhaust. The number two issue was motor/trans mounts. I had one motor mount that was bad and the other was close. So, I had all three replaced. The other issues were water pump was starting to leak and drive belt was starting to crack. I had both replaced. Finally, my right low beam head light operated intermittently during start up.
  16. While getting my 90K service done the mechanic gave me some bad news. In a previous post, I mentioned a buzzing type sound from my right rear tire area. That turns out to be a broken tire rod. A vibration that I beloved was an alignment issue turns out to be bad motor mounts. The car picked up a vibration at about 1500 rpm and continued to get a little more notable until about 2500 rpm. Finally, the water pump was starting to show signs of sipping; however, I was getting that replaced anyway. The first two issues I'm a little ticked off with because the previous owner had the 125 point service inspection done and these items where not discovered. I guess Monday I find out the additional cost beyond the $1200. Oh well, I guess that's the cost to be the boss. :(
  17. What has come of us when we think $1.96 for regular is a good deal? Let's hope for the days when we complained about 1.50 for premium.
  18. Cheapest I've seen for premium in San Antonio is $2.16 while regular goes for $1.96.
  19. I'm looking a purchasing a Craftsman Mech. Toolset and need to know the common sizes (10mm, 13mm..etc) for most DIY jobs.
  20. cardona6569, I'm thinking the same thing. SKperformance, no I don't have air suspension. alsalih. The sound is definitely mechanical. After putting car in Drive and initially pressing the accelerator, the car has a buzzing/grinding sound. After I get above 5 miles an hour the sound seems to go away. If I stop the car and repeat the process the sound lessens. After driving about a mile, I don't hear a thing.
  21. Hey guys, My car is making a strange "buzzing" sound from right rear wheel. Sound seems to be loudest on intial startup and I first tap on Accelerator. After about 20 seconds, it seems to go away. Any suggestions?
  22. SWOES, You are correct! I have a 99 but like akewlguy told me when I was thinking about purchasing the car. All LS400s are great cars. Having said that, I do have a concern about my car which I'm just about to post. I'll know the "dealer" answer by Friday (day I'm turning car in for 90k service).
  23. chung3388, Glad it worked out for you. I plan on updating my soon. Does the hard drive look like a standard HD or proprietary?
