  1. Anyone know how to disconnect or turn off the annoying seat belt warning bell - which goes ballistic if you don't connect your seat belt within your first 5 feet of driving? Yes, I drive with my seat belt each time I drive - but not when I'm driving down my driveway at 2 MPH to take the trash, or getting the mail. Heck, sometimes I like to put it on after I put it in drive. IIRC, the 2005's and ealier RX's i've driven did not have this annoying bell. The "big brother" aspect of Lexus is the only thing I hate about the company (like the annoying "I agree" button for each time to look at my NAV). :chairshot:
  2. Mine has gone down 1-2 miles per gallon. I thought I was the only one. I try to keep the heat off from the AC, but keep the heated seats on always (low).
  3. If you plan to keep it past 50k miles, then its a wise buy. Otherwise its a waste of money. I get a new every 2-3 years, so it doesn't make sense for me. Also - ONLY buy from Lexus. Those aftermarket warranties are not worth the paper their written on. Lots of horror stories and warnings all over the internet.
  4. I still get irked when articles, such as Business Week recently, that state the price difference is over $11,000 for a RX400 over the RX330. Thats basically a base, stripped, no-thrills RX330 with no options compared to the RX400, which is fully loaded except for 3 options.
  5. So much for "catastrophic", haha. Still lovin' my 400h with zero problems to date.
  6. Haha Catastrophic. I thought you were going to say it blew and killed a busload of school children or something. Looks like all is well now.
  7. Please post more details when you have them! Costs?
  8. I'm thinking of doing the same thing. How difficult was the install on the basslink? I've been looking for a place to put something back there, but I don't want to cover up all those compartments.
  9. I can't read the article, but all these "flawed mileage claims" are the same. They never dig deeper to discover the gas version claims are even worse. A hybrid might claim 31, but get 25. Then the gas version claims 22, but then gets 15. They never report on the latter because that story isn't as sexy.
  10. The ML is the only major dissapointment I have about my 400h. It's probably the worst upgrade for a stereo system from all the manufactors, expecially the luxury market. Only 210 watts is laughable for a car this size. The lack of a true subwoofer is also a big element missing. For the almost $1000 you pay for the system, you can go to any high-end stereo shop and have a much better system.
  11. Purchased at Nalley Lexus in Smyrna, GA. What is your email and i'll give you the salesperson's contact info? I can't email or pm through this forum for some reason.
  12. Wow, I didn't know my 400h was that much faster than the Porsche Cayenne S. This is a great flyer for those wondering why their not getting 31 mpg city. The govt test these cars on a flat road, with no AC on, with light acceleration. Most of us drive our cars on slightly hilly roads, with the AC on, and under heavy acceleration. Thanks for the link.
  13. My last SUV, a Jeep V6, consistently got 15-17mpg. I'm getting over 25 now, with MUCH MUCH MUCH more power. Signed, Completely Satisfied New Lexus Owner :)
  14. Yes, but you can tell when the motor is running. 95% of the time while sitting at a stop light, the ICE is turned completely off. You have to sit for a few minutes before it will need to turn on if you have been driving awhile and battery is charged.
  15. I was just curious about the calculation of when I am sitting at a stop light for 5 minutes, my engine is off completely, does this calcluate in extra mileage? I would guess not, but shouldn't it be calculated somewhere? I mean other cars sitting around me are idling still burning up the gas, especially the automatic cars, while I am burning ZERO fuel. So I am really thinking that if you are getting around 27-28 miles per gallon, then that really equals a 30-31 miles per gallon for a typical gasoline car.
  16. I want to go one step darker on my 400h. It appears to be around 35%, so I am thinking I want 20%. Anyone know the true percentage? Anyone have any pics of their RX330/400h with darker tint? Thanks for any help! :)
  17. I think it was only available for two years here. I read some bad reviews about it and stopped considering it.
  18. Considering the mileage of other V8's in it's class (of which the performance is similar, if not better), then I am thrilled with my 26+ miles per gallon. I feel sorry for those V8's chugging along at 14 miles per gallon with the same specs and price as my Lexus. So far, I'm completely happy.
  19. You know you guys in Cali can easily purchase one over the phone here, and have it shipped there in 5-6 days? Shipping would run $700-$1000 but you would still be ahead because of the $3000 off. I don't understand the problem. My dealer has every color but flint and white sitting on the lot.
  20. I've had mine a few days and I still love it. The Mark Levinson though is not something to wait around for. Its not worth the $900+ and you can get a much better system at your local high-end stereo shop for that price. The ML would be excellent with a subwoofer. Car is fast, gets excellent gas mileage, and the transmission is smooth like butter. I researched extensively from the new Mercedes ML to a Porsche Cayenne to a Infinity FX45 and firmly believe I made the best decision.
  21. I got $3000 off this week, and it took some pulling teeth on the last day of the month. I've seen only one higher, at around $3500 off. Not sure if there was a trade in that deal, which might have altered that deal. You won't get much better than $3000. If you like the car, you should buy it. No need haggling over a few hundred bucks on a $50k car.
