  1. Jen, Not sure if you're a DIYer but I had almost the identical problem last week. Mine has 57K miles on it so the sensor supposedly was out of warrantee by 7K. I ordered the O2 Sensor from www.oxygensensors.com for $87 compared to the dealer that wanted over $200. It was an extremely simple repair. Follow Smooth1's suggestion with calling Lexus Customer care though first but know you still have an option. Your Sensor is the one "before" the catalytic converter. See attached Diagram. Regards, Ken o2sensor_diagram.pdf
  2. Okay thanks, I posted this one yesterday figuring it could help people find the right IS for the right price. Just click on the following link: Tools that helped me find a great IS Ken
  3. Barkat, We allowed to post URL's to Club Lexus threads on here if they apply? Ken
  4. Or LOWJACK if you intend on getting it back. (laughing my !Removed! off from the "water out my nose" comment as well.) Ken
  5. Could you send me quote for a new painted front bumper cover for my 2003 IS 300, Sedan, no headlight washers. Thanks, Ken Concord, NC 28027
  6. That part number was not able to be cross referenced. The closest I got was identifying that it was the Bank1, #2 sensor.
  7. Hey, thanks a boatload for the part number. Nope, we were in every BP Wild Bean cafe until last summer when my family shut our doors after 4 years. Our main factory was down in Lake Buena Vista near Hooters and another retail location on 436 & 434 in Altamonte across from Office Max, but only for a few months. We made some Kick !Removed! donuts which I miss a bunch. Especially living up here in Krispy Krap Country, NC. Again, thanks so much for the part number. You've saved me a bunch of time. Ken
  8. Barkat, Do you want to try and upload all of the FACTORY SHOP MANUAL onto this thread? I still have it in pdf format. If not, I'd consider hosting it on my website if you don't have the space on your server. Ken
  9. Damn dude, you just ROCK. Thanks for the info and pic. By the way, we closed the doors on Hotties back in July. Just couldn't get it to make money with cost of goods climbing higher & higher every month even with every BP in town selling them. Any recommended source is for buying the O2 Sensor? I found one at www.oxygensensors.com for $89. Any chance you would know the lexus part number so I can cross reference it? I uploaded the pdf of the service manual's page to this message but no part number contained in it. Many Thanks, Ken O2_Sensor.pdf
  10. Thanks Smooth, Yeah, how it happens is I reset the ecu. Then cold started it in the AM. Then I drive for 6 to 8 minutes. Check engine light comes on then the Traction control starts blinking a few seconds later. I'll search around here and look for some threads on checking the resistance of the sensor. Autozone is wanting $169 for the thing so it's worth a check. The intake sensor is where I'll go next. Is this sensor the one that is located on the intake tube (after the air filter)? I used to use electronic cleaner every so often on my other IS's intake sensor to stop a "surge" I would start getting on acceleration. Thank for the details. I see you're in Orlando. I miss it a bit since I left Hotties(donuts) last February up in Altamonte. Ken
  11. Okay, the scan code that popped up is P0057? Says it's the heated O2 sensor on bank #2. Possible causes of this code are: Open or short circuit condition EFI relay Fault Failed AF Ratio Sensor. Any idea where I should begin?
  12. The same (CEL) thing happened after about five minutes of driving last night. No, I didn't happen to write it down but I'm headed back to autozone at lunch for them to plug it up again to see.
  13. Thanks man, I unhooked the battery to reset the ECU and that seemed to work for now. Would a bottle of that fuel system cleaner added to a full tank of fuel be a suspect for this? I added one on the last fill up.
  14. Anybody have an idea why my check engine light would come on AND Traction Control light starts blinking? The computer reader at Autozone stated it was the o2 sensor after the cat. converter. It still does not explain the traction control light blinking though. It's an 03 IS 300 with 56K on it. Help, Ken
  15. Does anybody have a good source for the Black Chrome IS 300 & Lexus emblems?
  16. But if there is a police report, it'll show. You're right though, if you pay for it yourself and there is no insurance claim or police report, a carfax report won't do much good.
  17. The problem here is that kids no matter what the age think "Ahhh, this won't happen to me, those guys were just idiots." The kid's that can admit "Damn, this could happen to me." are usually the one's who EARNED the car they are driving. All four of my boys will buy their first car if they want to get anywhere on their own, period. Stereo will only be installed after their first ticket free year. I'm 3 years away from the first one driving. Not to mention there is a network car device in every vehicle, which they will be made aware of. www.networkcar.com is where you can find out more. I used to use it on our company vehicles just keep everybody "honest". IT WORKS. Best of luck with the newbie you are about to buy a car for. Ken
  18. Bartkat is right, it'll take a little time for the police report to show up. I had somebody pull out in front of me trying to cross the two lane road I was coming the other way on. I planted my 2002 Sportcross underneath his utility truck. (sad pictures available) That happened on Feb 1, 2008 and I JUST ran the carfax report on the vehicle tonight. It showed nothing yet. Since the car was totaled, I had to sign the title over to the insurance company before I would get my money. That was on the 5th of February. You might want to do a bunch of research on edmunds.com for comparable cars to yours in order to come up with a price. BE AWARE. YOU MUST CLEARLY TELL THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER & BODY SHOP THAT AFTERMARKET OR USED PARTS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. Hold your line, you hold all of the chips in the equation right now. (Just noticed that your post was in Sept of last year so whoever else reads this post might benefit instead.) Regards, Ken
  19. Me too. Way to much car for a kid learning to drive. If they did buy him the car, I'd bet my next set of tires for my IS that he won't make it to college with that IS 300. He'll likely total it and God forbid hurt somebody else in the process. Go with Smooth's suggestion. Best of luck, I'm just 3 years behind with the same problem coming my way. :( Ken
  20. Yep same thing happened to me. Kinda of comical the first time it happens trying to get the door to stay open while pulling the lever but the second time, the fun is gone. Gotta go to the "Stealership" and buy a little clip that pops right in place of the one that broke. Fortunately it's a pretty cheap fix. (The ONLY cheap fix on the car) Regards, Ken
  21. It will, it comes on as a parking light at night. Took me a few tries to figure this out as well.
  22. Guys, I just used that plastix headlight restorer from Meguires and all I can say is WOW, Great Product!! Just taped off the bumpers and fired up the orbital buffer. Now, does anybody know where to get AFFORDABLE 3M protective film? The monkey's on eBay want $45 just for the headlight portions. IT'S PLASTIC FILM!!! Geez.
  23. Guys, There is also a second servo motor air mix unit that could be making the clicking noises as well. It' located just below the main servo unit I recall it was somewhere in the range of $153 for that one.
  24. Smooth1, Disregard this post. I found the answer to my question.
  25. Barkat, I had the same problem and remember reading somewhere on here about cleaning the cold air sensor located in the air intake? The post said to take electronic cleaner (Not WD40 or Brake Cleaner) and flush it out. Reinstall the unit and that should fix it. Well, it did for awhile until it got dirty again. Learned to live with the surge at a stoplight. Ken
