  1. I was rummaging around in some Australian Lexus web sites and discovered this: http://www.f1kits.com/proddetail.asp?prod=...r%7EDash%7EPlug Is this the HU replacement kit that we need???
  2. I don't know about RX in NC's Custom Leather, but here are mine: They are Tuscony Leather and are glove soft
  3. Here are a couple of web sites all about tires & rims: Info #1 http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/htmlpages/TechWheels.htm Info #2 http://www.chris-longhurst.com/carbibles/e...tyre_bible.html
  4. Good Grief, Charlie Brown. The car sounds good, but I see a few problems in your description. 1) CD Changer. The 12 disc changer has a lot of problems. You can take it apart, CAREFULLY, and clean it up. Particurlarly the pinch rollers. Sometimes that fixes it. My solution was to replace it with a 6-disc changer from a pre-1997 ES300 (cost:$150.00). It is the Only cd-changer anywhere in the world that is plug compatible with the Nakamichi system. And it will need to be mounted sideways compared to the original. I have had mine in for 4 months now and really like it. 2) Power Steering. Well, is the problem the Power steering pump or the High Pressure Power steering hose. Pray that it is the Hose. Mine was leaking. The replacement from Lexus is way over priced. I found a Hydralic Hose repair shop here in N. Texas and they repaired my hose for $50.00. I don't know about the other problems that you talk about. Try your heater. I know, this is summer, but a common problem is the Heater Control Valve assembly. If you do not get hot air, it is probably this valve. If you open the hood and stand there looking at the engine, it is a valve up on the left near the firewall. It will have two vacuum lines going into the solenoid (sp?) Any way, reverse them and if you get heat after a few minutes and with the Heater control on, then the solenoid is bad. My mechanic fixed mine using a solenoid from a Supra. He knew which one to get and had to rig it up to replace the stock one. It cost $25,00 These are a few of the common problems that you face. But if you are careful and get either used parts or have a mechanic help you get a replacement, this is a real fun car to own. If it has been mainained, you have a lot of years of driving ahead of you. I have a 1992 SC400 (Maroon) with 138,000 miles and it runs like new. Good Luck TexasComputerMan
  5. This is the site that I use. It is free: http://www.showoffyourcar.com My personal pics are at: http://www.showoffyourcar.com/galleries.asp?carid=1680
  6. What a good looking car. TCM B)
  7. I can take or leave the looks of the bra myself but I do enjoy the protection and I run without it once in a while. B) ← That is one beautiful car. (I also, prefer not having a bra, Just a personal preference)
  8. Actually Lexus of Louisville said $528, for the timing belt ONLY. The whole service is much more, but I thought I'd do the water pump and some other items myself. Water pump is right there in plain sight, should be fairly easy. They do a good job, I haven't had any issues yet with overcharging or lackluster work. We got our RX330 there as well. Just sold my car, took $12 from a local person who had cash. That's a fair price, I think. That was fine with me and she got a good deal. ← Man, Your Lexus dealer is a real crook. I just bought a Timing belt and Water pump and cam seals for a lot less. 1) Timing Belt 13568-59045 $ 74.42 2) Belt V-RI 90913-02361 $ 90.95 3) Pump Assy 16100-50023-83 $139.34 4) Seals 90311-A0001 $ 24.12 (2) 5) Seals 90311-38036 $ 12.06 TOTAL $340.89 THis was from SEWEL Lexus Fort Worthon Mar 26, 2005 I have the receipt and can scan it in if you want see that. ← Did they do all the work or just sell you the parts? This was for the actual service, them doing the work. If they did all of that for you at that price, you might wonder if they have real techs working on the car or teenagers with GED's. And while owning a Lexus certainly isn't cheap, I've yet to feel like they took me for a ride or did anything unnecessary or unethical. ← Well, I have a personal friend that does all of my mechanic work. I have known him for years and totally trust him. THe above list is for parts Only. My mechanic charged me $30 per hour and it took him 6 hours to do the work. $180.00 ←

  11. Here are some pictures: This is a 1992 SC400 Red/Maroon in color. I repainted the front and rear bumpers. THe rest of the paint is original. I replaced he interior with KazSkins. THey are the Tuscony leather and are glove soft. All of the mechanical work was done by a neighbor who has been a mechanic for 20 years and knew just what to fix. He also knew what parts to buy from Lexus and what to get from Toyota and even where to fix the P/S High Pressure hose for only $50.00 This car has 137000 miles and runs like new. :P
  12. Hey There, I work in the car audio indusyry, I MANAGE 3 stores... I have the Nakamichi System in mine, my amp went bad... this is all you need to do... Get a 4 or 5 channel amp, run new 4 or 8 gauge wire ... use the 9.6 volt blue and yellow wire from the signal side of the amp TO TURN IT ON OR RUN NEW REMOTE FROM SWTCHED ACCESSORY...THE PLUG YOU NEED HAS has two brown wires, one is brown and black striped and one brown side by side, then the first four wires on the right side has yellow, red and ??? other colors next to them, the first 4 are front left front right rr, rl... they are signal leads and the brown and black are the common isolated gound for 2 wire RCA's where 1 wire is signal and the other ground....... combine all shields from cut rca's to brown and black and now you have 1 volt signal lead--- add a 4 channel ,,,, 2 channels will run to run 4 speakers for the high's and the tweeters in the front doors are crossed over in the doors----- the sub ---4ohm--- is used on the other two channels bridged, you will have no fader except front will be highs and the rear will be subs(or whichever you prefer)... or if fader is needed use a 5 channel amp or 1-4 channel amp for highs and 1- two channel amp for lows.---- rest assured you will have no problem duing this as i used a kicker 350.4 to do this and NO ENGINE NOISE is there..... I have it and it works,,, just meter left ft, right front, r rear, left rear.... splice to rca's and you got it... it works with factory head unit.... every one says it can't be done... yeah-ok.... IT WORKS AND BELIEVE ME IT DOES AS I USED A FOUR CHANNEL SO MY REAR FADER IS ON THE SUB MY FRONTS ARE ON THE HIGhS....4- 4INCH MB QUART DISCUS, KICKER 10" SUB COMPVR NO BOX, SOUNDS REALLLLLLLY GOOD.... WRITE ME OR CALL ME AT BROTHERS SOUND IN SAN ANTONIO TX. 210 509 3933..... ASK FOR BRYAN, INSTALLATION MANAGER.----------------- if you are LOST PLEASE CALL 11-6PM CENTRAL. OH YEAH.... THE FIVE SPEAKER WIRE ARE COMMON TOYOTAS COLORS--- LEFT FRONT, RIGHT FRONT, RIGHT REAR, LEFT REAR AND SUB. EXCEPT THE SUB WOOFER ON THE OPPISITE SIDE OF THE SIGNAL LEADS I JUST DISCUSSED . SIGNAL LEADES ARE 18 GAUGE SPEAKER LEADS ARE 16 GAUGE ON THE OTHER SIDE. SPEAKER WIRES ARE PURPLE/PINK+ ---BLUE/GREEN+ -<<< FRONT REAR BLACK/YELLOW+ -- RED+/WHITE ← WOW! What a great solution. Is there any one in the DFW area that you know that can do this. I had to replace my Nak amp and it was expensive! And I fear it going out again. THis one is also used. I really like your solution, but do not have the expertise to do the change. Any chance of you posting some pics of this fix???
  13. Many problems: 1) SC400 engine does not fit into SC300 body, engine mounts are very different. 2) 5-spd transmission does not bolt up to the SC400 engine AT ALL, there is no way to do it without heavy modification and I don't think there have been ANY reported people doing this. 3) SC300 engines just don't blow....so good luck ← Perhaps this way is not doable. However, the idea of a SC400 with a 5 speed manual transmission is a interesting idea. How about putting a Lexus/Toyota 5 speed manual into a SC400?
  14. I would like to find a SC300, manual transmission with a blown engine. I would like to rebuild it but put in a SC400 engine. Hummmm! A SC400 with a manual transmission. What do you all think??? :chairshot:
  15. It wouldn't look as good as what? As replacing it with new leathers? I know it wouldn't look as good, but it should be cheaper. The DIY kit is like $75US I believe . . . how much could the paint cost? Regards, Bryan ← My steering wheel was flaking apart so I bought a WheelSkin. I was a little work to put on but I am Very happy with the result. Here is a Pic:
  16. It is a timing belt. At least on my SC400 (1992) it is. I just had mine replaced and the belt is not too expensive, but the installation is!. I am lucky to have a close personal friend who is a mechanic and he did mine for me. One good thing aboutthe V-8 engine is that if the timing belt fails, it will not destroy the engine. There are engines where a timing belt failure will destroy the engine. If you do the belt, go ahead and do the water pump. It is in the same place and all of the stuff that has to come off of the engine to get to the belt is a lot and there is no sense in paying the tear down charge again, a few months later. B)
  17. I had to replace the driver's side door hinge on my 1992 SC400. I got one from http://www.brickyardimportedcars.com/. They guarentee their parts. The first hinge that they sent to me was bent. (it cost $125.00) When I called them about the bent hinge, they offered me my money back or another hinge. I took the hinge. They sent another one to me at no cost and that one is now on my car. I really like these guys. CompuMan
  18. If you want a direct replacement email or pm me for the details. ← See this thread: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=19520 Look at my response (TexasComputerMan)
