  1. WHERE DID YOU GET THAT SHIFTER!!!??? I WANT ONE ALSO AND WHERE DID YOU GET THE STEERING WHEEL COVER? It looks like the RAZO. You can change out the inserts, as well as go with chrome or aluminum. You can see some slections here... http://www.bizrate.com/search__cat_id--1__...8__sfsk--0.html I haven't decided which one yet, but these are the best automtaic replacements I've found. Enjoy Sorry that I took so long to reply. The car that you are looking at with the two-tone interior is mine. The pictures do not show the true color. They look too bright in the pictures. They are Tuscony leather and are glove soft. They have been in for two yeras and are great. THe shift knob is a RAZO. YOu can get a knock-off version on Ebay for about $45.00. But I do not recommend it. I tried that one and it fell apart in 6 months. I finally got a real RAZO for twice the money, but it have been OK for 1 1/2 years. YOu can get one here: http://www.cardomain.com/item/RAZRA106 THe wheel is covered in a Wheel Skin. It looks and feels like leather and that is because it is real leather. YOu have to Sew it on. All of the instructions come with it and it is easy, if a bit tedious. It takes about 2 hours to do if you are careful. YOu can get them is a number of colors and styles here: http://www.wheelskins.com/index.php
  2. I have been looking for the stock measurement for the suspension. I am not even sure what to ask for. I would like someone to take a measurement from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender on a stock SC400 and post that measurement here.I should have done that measurement before installing mine, but I forgot. Mine is a 1992 SC400. So far I am really liking the feel of these coilovers. THey are more stiff than the stock suspension, but not objectionable to me. I set the ride stiffness to the softest and then went up two clicks on each coilover. That seems for me to be the best. If, however, you want to duplicate the stock settings and softness, get the SS not the Flex.
  3. I am experimenting with the comfort/performance settings on the Tein's. I have turned them all the way down (Soft) and drove that a while. I went back and clicked them up 2 places on all of them. Wow! that is the comfort and the response I was looking for. I will drive these for a while and may click them up one or two more in the coming days. The adjustment on these coilovers is super simple. :P ;)
  4. Also, the shift lever may not be seating correctly. Try gently tapping it forward (Toward the dash) while trying to turn the key
  5. Well, I have them and they are now installed. The company that installed them charged a bit more than I anticipated, but they are guaranteed now. The ride is stiffer than I expected, but not objectional yet. I will be adjusting them over the next few weeks to see what setting I like best. Boy, the car corners like a cat now. My initial setting was in the middle at 8, I have upped them to 10 now. Here is some info: TEIN Type FLEX Coilovers - Lexus SC300/400 92-00. TEIN Type Flex (Driving Spec Control Master) Coilover Kit. The FLEX Coilover kit has full-length adjustment and height adjustment for separate setting of the height and spring preload. 16 Levels of damping force adjustability. TEIN FLEX has Teflon coating for rust prevention. All TEIN FLEX Coilover Kit includes Pillow Ball Upper Mount. The FLEX Coilover Kit is compatible with EDFC (Electronic Damping Force Controller). Adjustable length and twin tube shell case. With EDFC you can have your own special setting for sporty driving and ride comfort. Your vehicle will be able to meet all road conditions! TEIN FLEX Coilover Kit Include. Adjustable shock absorber x4, Main spring x4, Lower spring Seat x4, Spring Seat lock x12, Bump rubber x4, Dust cover x4, Hook spanner x2, Instruction manual
  6. I have a 1995 cluster for sale. I bought it as a spare but then had my original re-done by LexTech. THe one I have for sale has all the needles working but a couple go a little brown after being on for a long while. Perhaps you should send yours to Lextech. My spre will ship for $125.00
  7. Everything that 92LEX said is what I did to my 1992 SC400 a year and 1/2 ago and it has run great since. I also bought all Lexus parts, even though they were a little more expensive. I have never regretted it.
  8. I have one from an es300 - 6-cd changer with cartridge. $150.00 shipped. Pm me if interested. (p.s. It has been tested in my car and works perfectly)
  9. I wanted to update this thread. It has been over a month since I did the above fix. It is working perfectly even in the colder mornings that we have had recently. This one works if you are careful.
  10. I had to re-program my LS430. I went to thiw web site and followed their instructions: http://www.homelink.com/training/train.taf
  11. My car does, in fact, have an intermittent feature. There is a rain sensor attached to the upper windshield just under the mirror. It had become partially detached from the window and my wipers were effected. I have re-attached it and all is working OK now. Thank you for your help.
  12. Thanks to both 1990LS400 & SWO3ES for their responses. I am looking forward to the next rain (we do not get many here in the DFW area) to see how they work. But your response does make clearer the way the wipers work according to my owner's manual. Thanka again. TexasComputerMan
  13. It seems that my 2004 LS430 (Standard) has developed a small problem. The windshield wipers work on the regular settings, but not on the Intermittant setting. I have turned the knob to every setting on the intermittant setting and nothing happens. Is there an on/off button that I have missed???? I have searched the owners manual and cannot find a thing. Is the intermettant setting on a different fuse???? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  14. IT seems that mehullica is right. I was out in my SC400 with my buddy, who is also my mechanic and my car would not start after stopping at PEP Brothers. I was Very thankful that Shannon was with me, because he was able to diagnose the problem immediately. It turns out to be the Fuel ECU as mehullica said. The one behind the rear drivers-side panel. I ordered one from used parts company. It will be here this week end. And on Saturday, I will put it in. Shannon is positive that that will cure my problem. I searched on Fuel ECU here and found a lot of information. I will keep this thread updated as I install the ECU and how it drives the next few weeks. :D
  15. The last few months, I have had a strange problem with my 1992 SC400, Sometimes after running my engine a little hard (80 - 90 mph) for a short burst, when I slow down, the engine turns itsself off. It does not sputter or cough, just turns off as if I turned the ignition key off. I usually pull over to the side of the road and wait a minute or two and it starts up and runs like normal. Since, it happens on it's own schedule, I cannot reproduce the problem when I need to to show it to my mechanic. In trying to research this error, we decided that the speed sensor Could be the problem. So I replaced that. And, it seemed to run OK for about a month. Yesterday, It turned off again. I now suspect the Engine computer may have a fault. What do you think? I do not want to spend $800.00 plus for an ECU and just to have it fail again. So, if you have gone through anything like this, I would appreciate your input. Thank You
  16. THe battery that you need is: CR1216 - Remote Lithium Battery See this link. It is where I got mine: http://www.lexus-parts.com/partlist.asp?Su...&ModelID=73 :)
  17. I need to update the recent problems with the cluster. First, you all need to know that if your cluster has been worked on by a Lexus dealer or any one else, it will be difficult for Lextech.org to fix it perfectly. He can change the color of the needles and put ultra white bulbs in, but the rest you have to handle. Now, lately the water temp gauge has been shorting out. The needle goes straight up, as far as it can go. The first time that happened, I thought that I was overheating badly. I pulled over (ON Highway 20 east in Dallas area) and did not see any symptoms of overheating. (Blowing steam etc. under the hood) so I smacked the dashboard in frustration and POW, the gauge went back to normal. That told me that there was a problem with the screw(s) that we had worked on previously. This morning I pulled the cluster out one more time. (I am getting hinky about pulling it out. These things are very sensitive.) Once out, I saw that the screw that we had trouble with before was loose again. My mechanic and I pulled the screw and re-wrapped it with fine wire again. We also put a little larger diameter wire down into the plastic tube where the screw tighten's up against. The we re-tightened (sp?) it. It tightened up OK. But this time, we soldered a VERY SMALL amount of solder onto the screw head to hold it into place on the board. If you do this last step, be VERY careful. You can ruin the circuit board if you get ham-handed with the soldering gun or solder. Even too much heat from the soldering iron can hurt the board. BUt, I have driven all around the Metroplex today and the water temp, as well as all other gauges, are working perfectly. :) :)
  18. THis is just a guess, but you may have to do what I did in this thread: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=31187 In fact, I am pulling the cluster this weekend to re-do a couple of more screws in the water temp guage.
  19. The dealer will charge you a lot. Look in your yellow pages for your area and find a hydralic hose repair shop. I found one here in the Dallas area and they fixed my high pressure hose for about $50.00. Search on High pressure hose to see the full thread.
  20. Sorry that I took so long to reply. I have been on vacation and just got back in town. The leather interior was done by Blankinship Aero in Grand Praire, Texas. It was done on 6/3/2005 and cost $1,077.09 including state tax. The leather is Tuscony leather and was cut and stitched by www.leatherseats.com. Blanlinship Aero called them while I was in their office and we finalized the seat leather type and colors and the cost. That was on Wednesday, the leather was cut, sewed on Thursday and Fedexed overnight that day. Blankinship Aero installed them on Friday. It took about 4 hours and they did a terrific job. I feel like I got a great deal. You can probably save several hundred dollars if you buy the leather and install it yourself, but it was worth the extra to have professionals do that for me.
  21. By Far Most of my CD's are burned. The ES300 cd-changer has never had a problem with them.
  22. Once the 12 disc changer fails they are not worth fixing. The 12 disc fujitsu changers are the worst changer lexus ever put in there cars. I can get you a lexus 6 disc that is plug and play with the bracket which allows you to mount it vertical or horizontal. Reply to this post, email me or pm me if interested. If DCFISH has a pre-1996 ES300 cd changer, you should consider buying it. I read at a different Lexus forum that an ES300, trunk mounted cd-changer is plug compatible for my NAK system. I found one at a local mom & pop salvage yard and took my sc400 out there and tried the ES300 unit. It is plug compatible and works perfectly. My car is a 1992 SC400. The ES300 unit has to be a pre-1997 unit. This cd changer is only a 6 cd unit, but that is OK with me. The NAK head unit recognises it and works well. The only problem is how to mount it in the trunk. My buddy, a mechanic, used the original brackets (He bent them artound) and mounted the 6 cd-changer sideways. I am very pleased with this solution. The word is that the ES300 cd-changer is much better designed than the original 12 cd Nak system It has now been in my car for nearly a year and is working great. I would look on EBAY for a 1993 - 1996 ES300 - 6-cd changer. Mine was $150.00 and was the best $150.00 that I have ever spent.
  23. I have to agree with VMAN1100 about LexTeckh.Org. They put me through a lot when they worked on my cluster. Read this http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=31187 to see what I wnt through. The people at Lextech are not helpful at all. I had to really badger them to fix mine. However, now that it is done (I spent over $600.00 on this) the cluster is very nice. If I had it to do over again, knowing what I now jnow about Lextech.org and how much I would end up spending, I would try these guys: http://www.dashusa.com/
  24. A few months ago, I decided to have my gauge cluster upgraded with blue needles and ultra-white lights. So I sent a working cluster to Lextech.org. When it came back, it was beautiful, but there were problems. When it came back to me, all was OK except the fuel guage did not work. I was told to I had to put a new fuel guage in myself. Since I had previously bought a scrapped cluster, I moved that fuel guage over to the Lextech one. Not being an engineer, I managed to disable the Tach and water gauges. I still had blue needles, but neither the Tach nor the water gauge registered properly. I sent the cluster back to Lextech and they got the tach working, but the water gauge still did not register. OK, the problem with the water gauge stems from the earlier fix's that this cluster has undergone. I have the original repair orders from the original owner and a Lexus dealer in this area repaired this cluster three times in 12 years. The water gauge Must have the mounting screws inserted and tightened down properly. It seems that the screws not only hold the water gauge in place, they complete an electric circuit. The screws must tighten up through a set of plastic tubes and over the years these tubes have become distorted and three of the screws would not tighten down properly to make that connection. Here is where my mechanic comes in. He inserted a VERY fine wire down into each tube and then put the screw in and it tightened down properly. The wire acts as a Heli-Coil. (Those of you that have worked in manufacturing and/or auto repair know what a heli-coil is) Any way, the cluster is working perfectly now. I have included a picture showing the back of the cluster and a couple of the screws so that you can get an idea of the problem. Particurlarly look at the design of the screws and you will see the need to wrap them with the very fine wire. I hope this is clear. Others may run into this problem also. I wanted to add a picture of the completed Cluster. Here it is:
  25. I noticed that the later models (Years) of our SC300/400 cars have an embedded Homelink module (Garage door opener) in the visor. Lexus wants $240.00 plus for that visor. I did not want to pay that much. So I found a set of RX300 visors on Ebay with an embeded homelink system. I paid $25.00 shipped for them. Since They were not the right size for my car, I took the Homelink module out and put it into my SC400, driver's side visor. It works great. here is a picture. (I had to recover the visor and I took out the mirror. My girl friend is scandalized that the mirror is gone, but i never used it and she can use the passenger side visor.) I tried to upload a picture, but it would not let me. I will post a picture elsewhere and put a link here Here is wher you can see the visor: http://www.showoffyourcar.com/galleries.asp?carid=1680
