  1. Hi...welcome to the Forum

It is either one of two things...

    1. the air con system is low on gas

    2. the air con relay has failed (common problem)

    LINK TO RELAY    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Air-Conditioning-Clutch-A-C-Relay-For-Lexus-Pontiac-Scion-Toyota-90987-02028-OEM-/401010132525?hash=item5d5e11062d:g:cUIAAOSwwbdWHOIk&vxp=mtr

After fitting you have to go through a reset on the air cond system and reset the engine management lamp if that has come on as well

  2. Hi Ben...welcome to the Forum

Although I do not have first hand experience with a discharging RX450h I am amazed that it has gone faulty as it is so new unless of course there is an assembly fault which is leading to the battery discharge.

Alternatively, is there any likelihood that an interior light (due to partially closed door/trunk) or similar was left on and this led to the discharge?

Equally, a battery of good quality manufacture should recover unless it has completely 100% discharged which would then have to be down to something discharging it.

Easiest way is for the engine battery to be disconnected and an amps reading taken to discover how much it is drawing and then a case of isolating different circuits to establish the cause.

Good luck with finding the cause and keep us update on the result

    Cheers  Trevor

  3. Hi Rick....welcome to the Forum

Not sure if its a manufacturer fault as such because it happens on my Honda and usually have to reset the switch to get it back on track.

Have considered if its a relay fault (timer function)...also worth checking the windshield to see if the sensor area is clean.

Be interesting to see what ideas come through

    Cheers  Trevor

  4. Hi...and welcome to the Forum

It would sound that there is still some air left in the cooling system.

The best way to track this down is to go round with a laser temperature gun and measure at points all around the system.

Let us know how you get on with it

  5. Hi....welcome to the Forum

Wow, that is a very big project you're looking to undertake !

I wouldn't even know where to start as going from a vehicle that is completely different to its petrol engine counterpart....not a conventional transmission, not a conventional charging system as such, probably completely different floorpan, etc, etc.

Maybe cheaper to buy a petrol engine RX and get a good sale price on your 400h?

Let us know how you get on with this....

    Cheers  Trevor

  6. Hi Nadira...welcome to the Forum

I would be tempted to go back to the first stage and return the original parts back to the vehicle and see which one's affected the running.

Somewhere along the line you replaced a component and this affected the running, I would retrace those steps.

Let us know how you get on with it

    Cheers   Trevor

  7. Sometimes, the engine management system needs to relearn the settings so after disconnecting/reconnecting if you take it for a drive using half open/closed throttle settings and putting the air con on along with lights to load the system so the idle speed can be relearnt.
