  1. Got a friend who knows much more about cars than me to check it out He says its engine "ping" and reckons its because i use unleaded rather than premium unleaded. We put octane boster in it and i'll see if that fixes the trick. Went for a drive after putting the stuff in before not a long one the ping was still there. Maybe take longer for the octane stuff to work. But its definetly an engine ping and not rod knock cause he says rod knock is much louder. Anyone else had pinging problems before? Another suggestion is spark plugs possibily. But im hoping it is just bad fuel.
  2. Its not that bad is it? Its not that loud This morning i took it out. Started it cold, ran it till its warm. The rattles gone. Seems quite weird. Any more ideas brainy? The only other thing this morning i did was check the oil levels and they were all perfect and hit the battery terminal covers so its secured. Thing is car only has done only 63000km too
  3. I haven't tested it between windy v calm days. Weather in Australia is always the same...sunny. It is like a penny rattle and i couldn't remember if it vary in frequency but i got a feeling it did when i was accelerating. The sound is still there even when A/C is off. The compressor has had oring replaced. Whats a rod knock?
  4. Hello I have a 90 LS400, when accelerating theres this rattle in the front end. when its just rolling to a stop or no gas, then the rattles gone. Its only when u give it gas u hear this constant metallic sounding rattle. Anyone else have this problem or know what it is. Starting to get paranoid Thanks

  7. This happened to me too and this is my case Had 5000km left on the front pads (not a lot of life) so i changed it. Before changing it it had no squeal. After indie changed the pads, it squeals coming to a stop. Its not much but its still annoying on a lexus. So what are my remedies. a) Will this do harm to the car in anyway B) Is it possible that its just new pads so they squeal or will they do it for their life? I guess if it doesn't actually harm the car then its ok. Next time use OEM parts i guess.
  8. Hey yeah they are the lights! Mine is a JDM model. I imported it myself because the local 1990 has had a hard life. Plus the JDM had more bells and whistles. However i don't have a manual. Even if i did, it'd be in Japanese and probably be no help. So that i have H4 and H3 bulbs. is there any recommended white bulbs? Also anyone have instruction on how to replace the bulbs on that signle piece unit? And yes the light pattern is not bad, even without the park corner lights at the moment. Are they also H4? Thanks

  10. Adding brighter bulbs will NOT help. ← Wilfred is in Australia so his headlight units might be different from those in the early LS sold in North America. For example, the early RHD LS cars sold in the U.K. used H4 bulbs in the headlights, had a sharp beam cutoff and even had a beam adjustment switch on the dash - just like the beam switch in the current U.S. Toyota Sienna XLE Limited minivan. Wilfred, does your LS headlights use H4 bulbs? Does Phillips still sell H4 bulbs in Australia called "plus 30 Xenon" - they are supposed to contain a mix of halogen and Xenon gas. They are a bit whiter than standard lights - we bought them from a specialty importer and use them in our Camry. ← I tried looking at the tut to remove it but its a little different. In the tut the headlight is 2 piece where u can separate the fog light section but i can't and at the same time lost the screws. How do i know if they use H4 bulbs but? and i think i've seen that plus 30 stuff before but dunno where.

  12. Its possible but gasoline wasn't coming out of the vent it was coming out underneath the car? If it was the pump and petrol that cost a gizzilon dollars now days, they so should pay! =o]

  14. Hello This just happend, I was filling up at the servo, and then when that was full, i drove to get air for the tyres. As i was doing the rear right tyre, i noticed there was a big leak, then it slowed to a drop and now hopefully nothing now. I tried to smell it thinking it could be petrol. Im not 100% sure but i think it was petrol. Is it possible that i just overfilled and its coming back out somewhere? Anyone else had this problem? If it was just an overfill probably nothing else to investigate into right thanks Oh its an 1990 LS400

  17. Hello I have a 1990 Ls400. I just realised today i didn't have parking lights and i don't have the maunal. If anyone has a scan or something like that to show me how to replace the parking lights that would be much appreciated thanks in advance.
  18. <_< You might want to try spraying silicone spray on the antiroll bar bushing I had some clunking up front over bumps and that did the trick for me ← Wheres the antiroll bar busing? Where do I spray i might try this too
  19. I heard creaking too this week when turning the wheels at very low speed (ie in a carpark). I probably have the same problem but i have airsuspension. What should I do? Should i replace anything? btw its a 1990 LS400 Thankyou in advance.
  20. Ok im gettin this creaking when im driving in a car park (ie driving slowly break and then turn 90 degree corners over and over again). But I have air sus on my GEN I so what do I do? Can this actually be possible on a airsus setup and not springs and shocks? Should I Leave it or get it attended to. (ie will it be dangerous to leave it) Thanks
  21. Hello As i was driving home before i saw a BMW with those really bright white bulbs. I want them on my 1990 LS400! So i wanted to know what specs or what i need to know to get the front bulbs replaced (the low high beam and those annoying yellow fog lights). Like what would i say to the guy at the shop? I am looking for ............ for my LS400? Anyone got manual or instructions on how to replace the bulbs also? Thanks in advance

Hi Just reading other suspension threads (spings and coils) and where people have to replace bushings and mounts and whatever, is there any sort of maintenance to do on a 1990 LS400 with airsus? Its only done 61000km. I don't actually know if the ride is fine or not (is there anyway i can tell). Like i don't feel and abnormalities. Is it wiser to leave it because some people have suggested around here don't do anything to it since it probably cause more trouble and its going to fail sooner than later. Is there evening bushings and mounts and rods and whatever on the airsus setup like the other type? Thanks in advance
  23. $900USD for a gril ekkk. Ok where can i get these black pearl emblems from? Thing is i got a Celsior, so i need a black pearl toyota emlem that'd fit it. Any sugestion where i could get one from? Is there anyone i could give my emblem to that dips or sprays this stuff on maybe? Cheers
  24. This is the grill again but better pic http://www.j-spec.com.au/clients/2177/index.php?m=1&p=08 It doesn't looks like theres a black emblem on it because theres no circle on the grill anywhere. I like it how the lines just go horizontally across. More opinon and suggestion much appreciated!
