  3. Yes, I got my S&S Headers on with a little persistance and effort... The S&S GS400 headers made my exhaust hang to low to the ground and the ending header flanges did not fit and match up with the two stock little cats which are located right at the headers where they connect... I had to custom make two down pipes and also delete the two little cats to get the perfect fit... I also had to say good bye to ever passing smog checks again in my ride also.. The upside is lots of power was gained at the topend with my headers and the deletion of the two stock cats.....Not alot of added noise to speak of but there was just a little power lost at the lowend... I am not so sure the after market performance headers would make as big a difference on the SC300's since you are only working with the smaller inline straight six 3.0L motor.. I would think the one side header design even at stock would flow decent.. I know the SC400 stock headers were very restrictive so big gains were noticed with my change out. Good luck and I am sure any header upgrade should be an approvement in performance over stock....
  4. Removing the stock oval rear mufflers would make the car extremely loud... I installed straight thru mufflers on my SC400 and it screamed...
  5. I would say probably not... I installed a set of headers on my Sc400 which were designed for the GS400...Not a smoothe fit... Talking with the Header makers they told me every different lexus is different in the way they are built...So an SC300 and an IS300 is most likely very different from what they told me... I would be weary...
  6. I bought my stiched leather wheel cover on Ebay for $15... It took me one hour to install and it made the wheel look like new...Tight leather grip with a factory look.. It also made the grip larger....I highly recommend it to cover the worn looking original steering wheel check it out... If you don't do ebay definetely go for a self stich wheel cover, it's the only way to go... I installed one on my Land Cruiser and SC400... The color match on my SC400 was off but matches other interior parts... If I were to do it again I would find a better color match.... Good luck, the stiching part is really not a big deal if you take your time..

  8. Cheese heads... (My two favorite teams are the Dallas Cowboys and the Greenbay Packers, ironic that both were mentioned) I go way back to the Rodger Staubach days and the Lyne Dickey days... Before the Tony Romo's and Bret Farve's.. I am really happy to see the Pack getting it done so far.....

  13. Thanks anyway... I have no bottom engine covers on my SC400 and the dealer wants $400 for that plastic crap... I'm ok but when it rains I don't drive the car...
  14. We are on the same page...Good idea with the paper color test...
  15. I agree with every thing Smooth says...However, I still think it is a good idea to replace very old transmission fluid...If the color of the fluid is not red anymore I would say it is time for a change...If it smells burnt change it... I am not a transmission expert but I do have experience and that is what I have always done for more then 20 years..... I have flushed the tranny fluid half a dozen times on the SC4's as I use to buy and sell them...Never had one slip after a flush, infact they always seemed to run a little smoother... Just my take...

  25. No you can actually buy little tiny bulbs and they fit right behind the needles.. Replaces the neon strip...The thread is at lextreme.com...use the search function and look for "cluster lighting" or cluster needle repair"... I used Lextechlighting.com for my needle replacement...The needles still work after one year, but the back dash lighting has blackened out already from the upgrade at Lextech lighting... I would say if you use them only do the needles nothing else...
