  1. To all you lx470 owners. Swapping out the fresnel lens n putting in a tsx-r clear lens with any h.i.d. Kit improves night time driving by 80% if done right. I got my kit from www.retrofitsource.com & all I can say is wow. If installed right & headlights aim properly, you can be in the middle of a 6 lane highway & easily light up all six lanes. No worries to blinding oncoming traffic, you'll have a nice sharp cutoff line. Just wondering if any lx owners done the same to their truck or considering. Will post pics later
  2. I have a gs400 & I recently did a strut replacement on my car. Install bilstein struts & eibach springs. Wasn't to bad of a job to do. You got 3 strut mount bolts up top to remove. 1 nut & bolt @ the bottom to remove. Remove the 10mm screw that holds the abs sensor & the whole strut assembly should fall out.
  3. BG 44K is one of the best fuel products out there. that's what most dealerships use. it's a little pricey. i think almost $30 for a small can. But they recommend you use once a yr. for more info go to: http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html
  4. I have the letter posted. In the blog. Just copy & paste to print
  5. Guys the notice is posted on this thread. You can upload n print
  6. I have a set of used front struts for sale. I paid $250 for them used, asking $100 for them. I never got a chance to install. I decided to lower my car. Anybody interested I'm in the pg county Md area.
  7. 1998 Lexus GS400. 218k miles on it. Still runs strong & ultra quiet. People swear its new If it weren't for the new design GS. My car is quieter idling than most new luxury cars out there today.
  8. The last time I had an issue like this I thoroughly drained & flushed my coolant system & put in a new thermostat. The heat returned afterwards. It also can be your heater core behind the dash
  9. To all the 2nd generation lexus GS owners who having front end clunk, do yourself a favor & change your rack & pinion system. I got tired of getting my tires balanced frequently, front end shaking & vibration @ highway speeds, car swaying pulling out of lane. Like I posted I changed everything, even the rack bushings n sway bar bushings, still clunked & rode like crap.I bought a used rack for $100 & did the labor myself bout 6hrs. Clunk is 100% gone totally. Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back!
  10. Don't know about the price or labor. If mine ever go bad I'll do my own labor. I like working on my car. Some of the repairs are simple to do.
  11. With proper maintenance you can eclipse well past 300k miles on it. I have a 98 gs400 with 215k on the dash. Still runs good quiet no leaks nothing. So if it's paid for n you want something to rebuild like a project car. Here's your opportunity. But it's solely up on you. Car is not hard or that difficult to work on.
  12. To me that sounds like your heater core is goin bad. Some heater cores are located behind the glove box. Gotta take the dash out to reach it.
  13. Well personally I wouldn't worry about it as long as its not leaking or overheating.
  14. Sounds like your catylactic converter getting clogged
  15. I have a posting up about your problem. Go check it out
  16. What you can do is since you're replacing the o2 sensor on the car is to cut the wire off as close as u can to the sensor & put a wrench on the sensor & take off. Also it'll help if you let the car run for a few mins to warm up the engine. That'll help with the sensor coming out.
  17. Have any more questions, feel free to ask
  18. I've had that problem. What I do now is take pliers, go under the dash where the hood latch is at. Squeeze the cable that attach to the hood latch & push it up into the dash until the latch is flush. Then your hood will close. Common problem with 2nd gen GS
  19. If your car is paid for, personally I would find a used engine n have it installed. Most salvage yards carry lifetime warranty on parts. All aluminum engines are sensitive to heat n will warp on you. So I wouldn't repair it. So if you can afford a new engine go for it. Or if you wanna save some money buy used.
  20. I didnt get a chance to do it to my 03 lx but my gs400 was doing making noise when the a/c is on. I change the cabin filter in the gs n the noise went away. I'm going try it in my lx & see what happen.
  21. Anytime. If you need any info on your GS, any info. feel free to ask. I do my own labor. Now i'm going to start working on the rear end of the car. Replacing arms, upper n lower.
  22. Try using a heavier gauge jumper cables, they allow more current travel
  23. Hey Alejandro, I feel your pain. I went a yr n a half trying to find my knock. I've change my upper control arms & both lower control arms, lower ball joints, put on new new struts n springs & it still knocked & clunked. My clunk went away when I changed my rack n pinion. Now my car rides like it came off the showroom floor now. Smooth & ultra quiet. Best $100 investment so far.
  24. 2jayz, if I were you I get them done. I got my car broken into due to security alarm wasn't activated.
  25. After 9yrs of ownership & over 200k miles. Car still bullit proof. Ultra quiet, run & ride like new. Only problem I had was the starter. The only mods I've done was chrome door handles, 18' chrome staggered wheels came off IS350. Bilstein shocks & struts, eibach springs.
