  1. Now Stevie, don't be talkin' like that or you'll get me started loookin' for one. :whistles: Haven't even sat in one. Tryin' to stay away cuz I know if I sit down in one of those perforated climate controlled seats, well, I'll just have to get one. I don't have the wife problem though, she wants a Mini. Still notice a nicely finished SC1 whenever one goes by. They're on my list as well. Of course there's the older list .... Austin Healy 3000, Triumph GT6 Fastback, 70's TVR, TR3 ... or how 'bout 2 wheels like an older Motoguzzi, Laverda, Ducati, Norton .... and the lists keeps growing. :P A friend has just picked a completed restored '69 XKE. He also has a TR6 (perfectly restored), a Mini (curiously, it's his wife's daily driver - must be a chick car), a Q7, and 5 goldens (for the Q7). I try to stay away from his place as much as I can, otherwise I'll go nuts trying to figure a legal way to start my own (affordable) collection.:chairshot: Every time I return home from his place I shine up the 'ol 400 just to get back to reality. Oh man, My British car past, I owned a TR250 (TR5 in Europe), Austin Healey sprite, and Jaguar XKE (1968) Those were like putting your money on the edge of the Grand Canyon and kicking it in....
  2. I would go with the Nations kit, save you a lot of money, hopefully for you no bad bearings etc on the original starter....Good luck and Hope you find that job soon.,
  3. JFK was a fiscal conservative, and believed in smaller government....And he knew when to hold a big stick.....Time will tell, but watch our economy in the future when the government has taken over. Our health care will be like Canada's and England, on a wait to see if you are a important enough to be treated basis. Taxes are already being increased, and Social Security is being reduced on our elderly...
  4. Lenore- Not very timely, but I wanted you to know I communicated with rdragoo directly with a detailed list of tips that I hope made the job easier for him, if he has done the job. Roger thanks roger, I am going to do mine next time, especially since I did the Sequoia one. I helped my neighbor do his on the highlander when we rebuilt the engine....
  5. It should.....
  6. I believe the debate is because the previous 1mze engine (before the RX300) was a non interference but when the VVTi cams came in they became interference especially at higher RPM. The earlier version of the 1mze did not have the VVTi cam timing....
  7. Costco battery is $65 and core charge, I did mine in their parking lot. Took only a 10mm wrench and about 4 minutes. Went in with the old battery came out with the new installed and no settings were lost on the radio or otherwise. Second time I have done this in 11 years. The 9 v battery is a bunch of crap, especially since the cigarette lighter is dead unless the ignition is left in the on position.... the iCostco battery is 3 year free replacement and 100 month warranty total. 800ah battery and 650ah cold start....
  8. Here is a tuturol from CL site that shows pictures of the transaxle plug....If you have All WHeel Drive http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-first-g...ter-change.html
  9. just changed my rear pads, Pushed the piston back with a C clamp and old pad. cleaned mounting surfaces, lubed the two locating pins (the upper pin is easy, the lower pin can be removed and the bore greased. Installed new pads (greased contact points) and pumped brake pedal. Job done. Took 30 minutes.... I even took a buffing pad to disk to remove residue so new pads didnt have left over from old pads. Works fine, last a long time, etc. You can adjust parking brake shoes through the outside (rubber plug on front of brake disk drum) by the way that is a lot nicer than reaching through the back.
  10. I just bought one this week at Costco, the old one died after 5 years. They prorated the old one for a 40percent credit....
  11. thank you nc cute baby.....
  12. what code did you get?
  13. I too was a registered Republican, And I agree wholeheartedly that they are a sick party, however there are no checks and balances in our political system now. The Democrats have gone wild, spending more in 3 months than what all presidents have spent in our history. I have no respect for either party at this point. Our domestic and foreign policy sucks, but given the world is not a friendly place, a position of weakness is no way to address problems. I believe the iron curtain fell because of our strength and positive belief in our country, what we have now is a guy that is apologizing for our past, That is rediculous, and shows the weak stance that is being presented. The middle ground is where we should be heading. No one from this administration is telling us how they expect to pay for all of these bailouts, programs, etc. If your think the last administration is bad, hang on to your wallet. This is the worst president since the bumbling Carter administration.
  14. sounds about right, that is what mine has gotten for 11years and 164k miles.... and that is on crappy California gas. It does better out of state. by the way mine is AWD
  15. I believe that those in the Beltway have no real understanding of the common Americans living day to day, and with values, patriotism, and love for country. Obama going around the world and apologizing for our past is absolutly an insult to the American that have made this country great, and died for it. The Obama administration record growth in government and debt is terrifying. My grandchildren dont have a chance. Funny that socialist and ex-socialist around the world are stating that they are more central than Obama and his policies. Our rights are being attacked daily ( we ex servicemen are terrorist, board of directors will have their wages controlled) and the list goes on. We have never been told how they expect to pay for all of this spending. You in the beltway are the problem, not the solution...
  16. Ooppps it has happened to the best of us. You learn from your mistakes. Good luck
  17. You may have a sludged engine. Have the front valve cover removed and see if it is clean or full of a jelley gooey crap. Unfortunately you are past warranty for this problem (8years 120 days) As for the starter you may have a shakey battery. What is your mileage on the vehicle and do you have maintenance records.?
  18. AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA By Lou Pritchett Dear President Obama: You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me. You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you. You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support. You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American. You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll. You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core. You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others. You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail. You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America' crowd and deliver this message abroad. You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector. You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one. You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves. You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world. You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations. You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals. You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people. You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient. You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do. You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view. You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing. Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years. Lou Pritchett Note: Lou Pritchett is a former vice president of Procter & Gamble whose career at that company spanned 36 years before his retirement in 1989, and he is the author of the 1995 business book, Stop Paddling & Start Rocking the Boat. Mr. Pritchett confirmed that he was indeed the author of the much-circulated "open letter." “I did write the 'you scare me' letter. I sent it to the NY Times but they never acknowledged or published it. However, it hit the internet and according to the ‘experts’ has had over 500,000 hits.
  19. Yea, its a scarey thing to pull on that panel, but what holds it are some metal clips that spring into a hole on the pillar support. pull gently by inserting a screwdriver under the edge and then grip it with your fingers. This is just the normal way they put cars together.
  20. check under the car and see if a muffler hanger broke.... a long shot....they are rubber hangers...
  21. You could have a bad timing gear on the camshaft. If the sensor doesnt fix it. It is the VVTI gear....
  22. Lenore- Did you realize that was ukfan4sure's thread from a year ago? :D no I didnt, was a long day yesterday, too tired to notice....thanks code 58
  23. here is a thread on the p1350 from cl site: picture in frame 2 http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-first-g...controller.html
  24. I am still concerned about the problem, Could have sludge building up in the engine causing the cam sensors codes. That is what happened to my neighbor on his Highlander. I would have the valve cover pulled and take a look. The sludge builds up and causes the sensor to bind up. Good luck.... by the way I could tell my war storey with Roseville Lexus whom I had to finally inspect the car on the rack before I drove off. They would leave so much damage after service that I absolutely would not trust them. example after replacing the tranny they only put 3 bolts in to hold transmission to engine, tie rods were disconnected completely and rubbing on the brake lines, Hoses and wiring not put together, axle shaft not seated properly in tranny. This was 4 different visits, and I soon learned I was a better mechanic than they were. When you get a hoseclamp service rep that tries to bull&*&&*( you run, and find another dealer.
  25. when you replace that sensor, dont use bosch. Use original equipment. This engine seems to not like bosch or aftermarket sensors.
