Varish man...Cheap oil and lots of heat. ← Not nessecarily. I agree with you on most things dude, but on this one, i cant agree. Every engine will varnish eventually, no matter what oil you use, barring synthetic. Synbthetic doesnt varnish because it can withstand much higher heat levels. but even the highest quality oils cause varnish eventually. a couple of oil changes with synthetic will make it go away.

Man, i sent that on the 26th, i think the mail tucks are getting stuck in the swampy bayou's... i can picture them calling it in on the radio: "breaker, 1-9, where are you?" "This is 1-9, im stuck in the swamp somewhere between ruston and New Orleans!" "Roger that, we'll find you in a few weeks. Dont go anywhere"

Who Has The Highest Mileage On Their Es 300
ArmyofOne replied to Tousij2's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
'98 with 145K. I got it 3 years ago at 34K. Timing belt @ 120K and brakes as needed. Oil changes at every 7500 at my local Wal-Mart with Penzoil. Runs like new. I expect it to last at least to 250K and then it is on to another certified used. ← please...oh please...get that pennzoil out of there! i have opened engnes and seen oil passages go from the size of a nickel to the size of a pencil in less than 50K miles of use with pennzoil. PM/email me for the right oil to use, it doesnt even have to be synthetic, but at least put maxlife in there or something...and at 7500 mile intervals????? im amazed you dont have sludge. i know that thats what the manual calls for, but i can GARUNTEE that Lexus didnt send that car from the factory with pennzoil in it. BTW, this is all accordingto my own experiences, i woudl never EVER put pennzoil or Quaker State oil in any car i gave more than a rats !Removed! about. but it is your car... :) -
yeah, he *BLEEP*ed me off so bad that i wanted to register there just to tell him hes a *BLEEP*ing idiot...but i refrained myself. if timing chains are so superior, how come my dads old olds 88 had to have its chain repalced at 30K and again at 70k bqack in the late 80's/early 90's? how come my ex coworker just replaced the motor in his 95 grand am because the timing chain blew with 80,000 miles?? need i keep going? i have a few more! liek the cavalier my boss has with endless piston slap...

Holy old thread batman! the reason why you sometimes get a brand new car without a full tank of gas is that these cars sit for a long time sontimes, and occasionally for a very long time. gas goes bad. however, in the prep to sell, while you are signing the paperwork, it shoul dbe filled up. the other reaosn is that gas has weight, and cars cost more to ship the heavier they are. and its really not safe to ship a car with too much gasonline in the tank.

Your 1995 Ford Contour's Z-Tec 4 cylinder engine was Designed by Ford of Europe, not by American Ford engineers http://www.worldhistory.com/wiki/F/Ford-Zetec-engine.htm The hydraulic valve lifters of your engine (prior to 1998) were a source of mechanical trouble. ← first off, its Zetec, not Z-tec. secondly, it was cheifly designed there, but all major components were built here and the car was COMPLETLY assembled here. I have never heard of a hydraulic valve lifter going out on a pre 98 contour. EVER. i have been around and involved with them since the mondeo's debut. My family is friends with one of the chief designers of the CDW-27. It is the amercian version of a car that was marketed around the world, and each country that had it had different design cues. the only known/admitted mechanical trouble from this car from 1995-1997 were the chronic Auto trans failures on V6 equipped vehicles. basically a differential problem to start with. became a tranny problem almost instantly. never happened to me, i didnt have an auto trans. DO NOT lecture me on this car, i know more about it than you care to realize. oh, and the engines were assembled on site at KC. BOT, i have noticed the LS's with higher miles, tend to be more than everywhere LOL. I have also noticed that the 95's tend to be the most drvein out fo all the gens. i saw a 95 today with over 280K on it. the engines were assembled on site at KC. ← The LS engines assembled at KC? Or are you talking about the ford? Because I’m sure my car was built and assembled in Japan, (other then the usual door jam sticker) I even have the port entry documents. Which looks very cool if I may add, just like my old highschool deploma :D ← I was referringt o the ford...sorry for the confusion.

Its a rear sway bar buishing i think, something back there. takes a little finesse, but it shouldnt cost to much to have it fixed professionally a couple hundred at most.

if i get you correctly you are basicvally stating "why spend the extra money when the dealer spec fluid is more than sufficient" am i right? our points are simply this: toyota fluid is not the BEST you can do. it i adequate, and probably way more than adequate...but if you drive like me, you need something that is a lot more than "way more than adequate" I need the best.

Sub& Wiring To Stock Deck
ArmyofOne replied to oldschool8604's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
Unless your car came wiht a subwoofer from the factory (i dont think any ecept the ES330's did), then you will not be able to connect a sub to the factory deck and amp, as there are no "pre-outs" for the sub. However, if you replace the amplifier with a 2or 4 channel, then you can add a subwoofer. -
Howdy, Need Some Help With Es300
ArmyofOne replied to Nutster_98's topic in 92 - 06 Lexus ES250/300/330
if the smoke is black, theres too much fuel, i would say a possible fuel pressure regulator, or even a pump acting up. pull the Electronic Fuel Injection Fuse for a night and then re try it. should be either #11 or #14. cant remember. -
thats exactly it. step 12 is where you should stop. just replace them, dont rebuild them, they arent worth it.
-
Do the garage passes next time you get a chance, they are worth it!
-
if you are mecahically inclined, you can do DIY on the CV Axles, i would just replace the entire shaft with one from autozone. i think they run $155 after core exhange. on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the hardest, i would rate this at 4.

^WOT...200+ MPH, and they get there in 15 seconds... ^ZZZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM (Go Dale Jr.!!!!) ^Coming around turn 4 ^ First (and certianly not last) Wreck for the day. Bobby Labonte got tapped coming a round turn 4 on the 5th lap and slammed into the wall. the front of his car was destroyed, he later came back out with a new front ned, but he was some 40 laps behind. ^This car slid up into the wall to avoid Labonte, but he did it backwards... ^Labonte after the wreck. well guys, thats not all i havem but i think you get the general Jist of things. If you want me to post the rest of them, let me know. Suffice it to say, this was the best experience of my life. the most fun i have had in a VERY long time. If you ever get the chance to go, dont skimp, get the pit passes and Garage Passes. they are worth it!
