  1. Hi Guys/ Gals,

I am new to the forum but had a quick question. I recently failed my smog test with my 1991 Lexus LS400 due to a malfunctioning check engine light. I think it may either be a short somewhere in my car or the check engine light bulb is out. Does anyone know how to check the bulb without ripping out my dash? Also if i have to rip out my dash how hard is it?

    Thanks,

    Nick

Did it fail for the light not illuminating with KOEO (Key On, Engine Off) or because the light is always illuminated?

If the light is always on: pull codes, determine malfunction, repair/replace

No light on KOEO: remove cluster, inspect bulb (if the bulb checks out okay: check electrical circuits)

  2. You can't use NOx as a determining factor for fuel control. If it were a true "lean condition", then the CO level would be at 0.00 and O2 % would of been higher than 0.08.

    93ls400walt,

Test the EGR system. Let me know the outcome.
