Oxygen sensors

I have a new to me 2006 RX330 that has the engine/VSC/Traction lights on. The code reads as a P0037 "Heater control circuit low bank #1 sensor #2. So I look that up and see it is an oxygen sensor (could be a wiring issue etc. or the sensor) and I look up info on that and come across a "how to" thing thats ays to use only OEM sensors. It says that "lexus cars don't like aftermarket", but the prices difference here is pretty huge.

 

Is it true that an aftermarket sensor instead of an OEM for a 2006 is going to be a problem?

I have fitted 'quality' aftermarket O2 sensors in the past and never had an issue.

Ensure that there is no air leaks into the exhaust system as this can trigger the O2 sensor as running outside of operating range (e.g. lean reading)

How does one tell the difference between a "quality" aftermarket O2 sensor and a non one?

 

Funny that the engine light has cleared and come back on now a few times.

The EML could be the O2 sensor so worth pulling any codes to find the exact cause

Quality is usually defined by cost and this is the best way of acquiring a quality item.
I would prefer OE parts but usually find the OE number and compare to an aftermarket part and find some from Bosch, NGK, etc.

If you have a dirty sensor code this might help. 

If it's a heating element code replacement is required. 

Some places sell OEM spec parts. Some sell cheap parts. When possible buy OEM spec parts.
