scottsails2
At 96K i got my first code, Coolant Pump “B” Control Circuit Short. All my research indicates the water pump needs to be replaced. Do the pumps wear out around the 100K? Scottsail2
RX400h
If you have a timing belt (not chain), then water pumps are replaced when the belt is replaced. At least that's the way it is with many vehicles including our RX. Does your maintenance schedule list the timing belt as a replacement item? scottsails2
The 2ZRFXE engine has a timing chain that requires no periodic inspection. I am going to change both the water pump and thermostat as a precaution. I have 50 years experience as an aircraft mechanic. The OEM cost from Amazon is $208 for the pump and $21 for the thermostat. Thank you for your input! It got me thinking about whether I have a chain or belt.
RX400h
That's great that you can do it, yourself. Your experience comes in handy and saves quite a bit of money.👍
