Transmission problems

Hello everyone,

Mine is a 2008 LS 460, 265k miles. The reverse gear doesn't function and transmission from 2 to 3 disengages.

I would highly appreciate your assistance.

Have you had the transmission fluid changed as per the maintenance schedule? If so, have you checked its level? Sometimes, a low level will cause issues like slippage.

I agree with RX400h and an examination of the fluid will determine if there is wear in the clutch plates/bands which could be one of the causes

  Transmission shifting very hard when I put the car on reverse and when driving the car sometimes revs  showing high rpm before gears shift.  

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Mileage?  Service history (i.e. have you ever flushed or at least changed your ATF trans fluid?).  

An ATF flush, or at least a simple drain and refill, is the first thing I'd try.  

And if you do that (it cost me $250 to have it done at an independent trans shop, for my 2017 LS460 w 69,500 miles at the time) and the transmission function seems to improve, even if only a little, then I might go ahead and do a complete fluid flush, and then cross my fingers.
