No Spark

Recommended Posts

It may be your Coils! There are (2) coils on the 4L engine. One directly left of center behind the coolant overflow tank and the other is the the right hand side of the engine.

I had the top coil go out and it was running on two cylinder on either side of the engine.

But, it is hard to imagine that both Coils have gone out. Remove the coil wire and if you barely put it into the cap and have someone turn the engine over, you will hear the spark poping as it jumps the gap. Use some insulated pliers as it will pop YOU real good if you don't.

One coil bad may be bad enough that the engine will not fire if the other coil is week.

I replaced the bad coil and then replaced the good coil for good measure and the old coil is under the mat in the trunk for a spare.
