I need help with what I should do next, I bought a 2009 is250 that had
the carbon recall work done by kuni lexus at 67k. They replaced pistons
ect and it has a year warranty on the repair work, and the work was done
horrible. I noticed idle issues and it smelling like sulfer while on
the highway so I took it in, they looked over it and said nothing was
wrong and gave me a car wash. Well the problem persisted so I decided to
look under the hood myself and there was a MAJOR ground wire
unconnected to the motor and it was leeking antifreeze. So I took it
back in they reattached it and bled the system and gave another free
carwash. Well a few weeks later I still had the idle issue and noticed
white smoke on startup so I filmed it to show the service manager. They
looked over the car AGAIN and said the smoke was from starting it in the
cold in the morning, well it was 75 degrees im the afternoon and
billowed smoke from the tailpipe. It keeps blowing white smoke on
startup and they refuse to fix it since they can't replicate it and
theres no check engine light on. I am so !Removed! at the service
department and I think they want me to just go away, wasting my time
until the year warranty work runs out. Hell even today I started it and
yup...white smoke on startup. I dont know what im going to do since
they deny anything is wrong. I have videos of the car blowing white
smoke and they say its "suspect". So any help as to what to do next I'd
appreciate it

white smoke typically indicates water being in the combustion chamber where it shouldn't be. You said the pistons were replaced? that means a complete engine teardown at which point any of a dozen things with gaskets and such could have been done incorrectly. The MOST common reason for the smoke is a compromised headgasket.

I'd be VERY unhappy with the runaround but it is something Lexus dealerships excel at doing. Good coffee though.

The sulfur smell has to do with the catalytic converter. Had a Nissan that smelt bad like that all the time. Dealer said it was nothing several times. Luckily (or unluckily depending) when the car was a year old, my wife backed it hard into a Jersey wall on the Capital Beltway when some black ice appeared out of nowhere.

Oh.....I would be so angry. It is a beautiful car. I sure hope you can make them fix it.

They need to pull the engine and do it over....poor quality work is not acceptable. I would talk to the general manager, and see if things can be done correctly.
