Ac/radio Problems

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I am having a bit of problem with AC/Radio systems on my 2006 IS250. I would appreciate your feedback. I had recently replaced the battery and i'm not sure if it can be related to battery disconnecting issues. Here is what's going on.

1. AC/heater/fan do not turn on. Display background lights are on.

2. Radio/CD/Aux function but the display readings (radio statin #, tracker #) are absent. Background light is on.

I have double checked all the fuses, they all look fine.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Hi Steve and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club.

Your situation is a real puzzle to me. I'm no expert in this area, but it's easy to jump to the conclusion that it must be something to do with the changing of the battery. You say all the fuses look fine. A fuse cannot look fine unless you've actually pulled it out and used an ohm meter to put a current through it to test it. Many members will often remind others that this happens more times than not.

Someone else will hopefully chime in here with more expert knowledge.

Keep us up to date on your progress.

Paul

Hi Paul,

thanks for reply. I pulled out all the relevant AC/Display/Radio fuses and looked at them for breakage. I am not sure if it is related to changing of the battery since first the radio displays gave out and then the AC followed shortly after.

Sounds like it could be a bad ground. Try Cleaning your battery ground terminal wire with a wire brush and tighten down hard. Make sure you clean off all the grease as well.

Cheers,

Any luck finding a fix? I read on another site that when a battery is replaced in the IS, a security code needs to be entered in order to get the radio to work again.
