mtbmtb01 Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 just bought the wife a 2007 es 350. really had more miles than I like (116 k) but all service docs from lexus and a 1 owner trade in. it's Smoky Granite Mica with Light Gray interior. all options except Premium Plus Package and Mark Levinson Premium Audio. list for $42k. plan on doing my own oil changes and was going to buy the Assenmacher Specialty Tools TOY 640 Oil Filter Socket Wrench for Toyota/Lexusfrom amazon I was planning on using mobil 1. my question is should I use 5w-30, the 0w-30 or go with a 0w-40 with this high of mileage? should I stay w a 5k interval or could I go to 7500 when using the syn? anything else I need to know. btw this isn't my first lexus, had a gs years back.

This question always brings up dozens of personal opinions about which oil brand is best, what weight, and how long between changes. lenore Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I would stick with the recommended weight. 0-40 is not required. I have a RX400h (2008) and use 0-20 weight with 130k miles (Mobil 1) and the engine is just fine. I would stretch the oil change to 6000 miles but with synthetic many go 7500 and beyond.
KBRX330 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 My ES350 gets Pennzoil Platinum or Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30 and a factory filter every 5000 miles. Now at 181,000 and it runs like new. It also doesn't consume any oil in 5000. Oil is cheap. I buy my oil at Walmart and the filters by the case on line.
