Gove Box Ipod Attachment Wire

I have what looks like an IPod attachment coming from the back of my glove box inside the glove box.

Does anyone know if this is what it is and if this is something possibly the previous owner did?

Is that possible? How was this done? I've read somewhere where the glove box back panel can be removed.

Your IS probably has the optional iPod interface kit described at http://www.lexus.com/cpo/model_library/IS/2009_options.html

The kit installation instructions has the iPod cable routed into the glove box. The kit was probably dealer installed.
