RestonRx Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I am wondering when do we replace following fluids in RX400H. The service schedules only talks about replacing Brake Fluid at 30K. 1.Transmission 2. Coolant 3. Power Steering 4. Differential Is there a criteria to replace these based on color or length of time etc.? Also, are there any other fluids to change .
BobBass Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Just go to your dealer and have them do their 30K service. They'll be moar than happy to do whatever is necessary and take your $600+.
lenore Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Schedules go by time, mileage, and whether you have severe conditions such as all city driving or towing.
RX400h Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 According to my 2006 Lexus RX400h Owner's Manual Supplement, every 36 months or 30,000 miles: brake fluid change at 72 months or 60,000 miles: transmission and differential fluid change ONLY if operated primarily in desert, on dirt roads, or while towing at 108 months or 90,000 miles: timing belt change and trans/diff fluid change ONLY if operated primarily in desert, on dirt roads, or while towing at 120 months or 100,000 miles: engine and inverter coolant change at 144 months or 120,000 miles: spark plug change I don't think there is any fluid for the electric steering.
lenore Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I will tell you at 87k miles the transmission fluid in the front was brown in my RX400h (2008)
RX400h Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 The manual advises the owner to have the fluids "checked" at every 30,000 miles or so.
Jim Clark Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 The more often, the better. Oil - 10k. They say 5k, it's not necessary with proper synthetics. ALL other fluids - 30K with complete/proper flush/fill. It certainly does not hurt doing it more often.
