Phargraves2
HI! I have a 1996 LS 400 with 210,000 miles. The car is a dream. Over the last year or so the AC blower has gotten progressively weaker. The air is cold but the volume of air pumped out is very low. Any thoughts what it will cost to repair?? Thank you! LSPaul
I can't give you a dollar figure on this one, but it looks relatively easy to get at on a DIY basis, if the '98-00 cars are similar under the dash. landar
Have you ever changed or inspected your cabin filter? A clogged filter will restrict the air flow.
Daniel091
I agree. Check that cabin filter first.
VBdenny
Better the fan motor or a simple restriction than the compressor. I was quoted $2500 to fix mine, now I wait for colder weather to drive it.
AzHotLS
Yep, check the cabin air filter. It's behind the glove box. Open the glove box and remove the panel in the back to get the filter cover. I know I should buy a new one (they can be had for cheap on eBay), but as a temporary measure, I just flushed mine out with water in the opposite direction of the air flow. I let it dry for many hours before reinstalling it. It wasn't quite 100% dry but since there's not much humidity here in the desert, I wasn't worried about mold forming and knew it would be completly dry within a day or two.
