rsafr Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Hello all, 4 days ago while my 93, LS 400 was running fine, I stopped and lost all electrical power. No Power windows, wipers, A/C, radio, seats, lights, etc. All fuses under the dash are good and I started tracing down fusible links under the hood. One was blown. I put in a new one and it immediately blew before the car was even started. This is located under the fuse cover near the battery, and is labeled AMI 40. Any idea on what this is for or where to start looking? Thank you Rich
steve2006 Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 According to the circuit diagram the only 2 things which would cause this fuse to blow is a short circuit on the wiring from the fuse to the alternator or the alternator itself. http://www.lextreme.com/diy/altern3.gif
rsafr Posted May 17, 2012 Author Posted May 17, 2012 Steve, Thank you for the reply and insight. Turns out the whole issue was related to an oil leak. The valve cover was leaking oil on to the wiring harness for the generator. The oil eventually "burned" thru the wiring harness and shorted everything out. I appreciate your time. Rich
