byrne2rad Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I got this 2005 LS430 really nice from a dealer in FL 2 months ago with 35,000 miles. The steering wheel plastic(?) covering the wood has carcked and peeled in one section at the top of the wheel. Leather on wheel is fine like new. My Nalley Lexus dealer here tells me they would replace it but cost over $2500.00. Has any one got a solution to offer? !Removed!
SW03ES Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 It can happen if they've sat out in the sun a lot in harsh sun climates...like FL. My advice is to find a replacement wheel on eBay like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-LS430-WOOD-LEATHER-STEERING-WHEEL-2001-2002-2003-2004-2005-2006-/170734514799?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3ALexus%7CModel%3ALS430&hash=item27c091f26f&vxp=mtr#ht_986wt_1165
landar Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 If you are super motivated, you can do it yourself -> http://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-first-generation/421861-wood-leather-steering-wheel-refinishing-pics.html
UCF3 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 It looks like American Stitches has changed names. "Craft Customs Steering Wheels" is a company that can rebuild your steering wheel. I haven't used them yet, so I won't recommend them but we've suggested using them in past posts.
billydpowell Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 that ebay one looks good to me.... 300 vs 2500.. enough said. if you "rebuild" yours you will be without it for a while..
