mek88
The remote key does not work occasionally on 99 RX300; have to unlock manually, remote then works. Would welcome any comment on the cause of this problem. Thanks email: mek88@yahoo.com Location: Los Angeles
SW03ES
Its the battery inside the key. Theres a little screw on the keyface that allows access to the battery.
mek88
Its the battery inside the key. Theres a little screw on the keyface that allows access to the battery. Thanks for the advise. I've replaced the battery last week, and it didn't fix the problem. By the way, what kind of switch on the dashboard for the remote do you mean? I don't see any switch to turn on/off for remote access. Mine is 99 RX300 AWD with 99k Miles. Thanks email: mek88@yahoo.com
weinkaufjr
Switch?
SW03ES
No I mean a screw on the key face, but since you already changed the battery you already figured that out. I'd try cleaning the battery contacts and inspecting the button contacts for grime buildup...
weinkaufjr
SW0ES, Thank you. Had same problem with both keys ('99 RX300, 52k miles). Installed two new batteries today from Longs Drugstore for $6.13. Both keys work fine now.
SW03ES
In my experience the key batteries don't slowly die, they just go out in one big way lol. 9 times out of 10 if the keyless entry doesnt work right, the batteries are dead.
