Looking At Used Cars -- Would You Buy A 2001 Rx300?

My wife and I are considering buying a 2001 RX300. We need a bigger car and my parents had a great experience with theirs (180K miles, no problems, before trading in for an RX350). I've been reading about lots of transmission and other problems here in the forum, and I'm wondering if y'all recommend a 2001 RX300 or not, given your experience with your vehicles. Thanks so much.

Absolutely not. But that's based on our terrible experiences with a 2000 AWD model....

I've heard that the 02-03 Rx300's had some changes to the tranny to make them more reliable, but truthfully i don't buy it...

At the age of Rx300's out there, i'd stay away from the model unless you can afford a $4k transmission job at some point

Totally agree, dont buy, maybe a 2003 but look at the RX330 or newer...

As a 2000 RX300 owner, I concur - save yourself a lot of grief, do not buy this vehicle.
