Don't take it hard, though. I ended up with Cilajet from the dealer. It does look nice, but there is little to justify the very high price. I've been compiling a list of the vendors of these paint sealer products that dealers sell:

http://www.royalshield.com/

http://www.colourshield.com/

http://www.5starshine.com/

http://tropic-shield.com/

http://xzilon.com/

And here's a detailer that sells multiple different paint sealants and has a paint sealant FAQ:

http://www.clean-image.co.uk/articles/paint-sealant-faq.html

Though the skeptics among us will choose to read it as an advertisement rather than fact.

I think the most real info is probably in the patent mentioned on the 5starshine.com site:

http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/5081171.html

And some information on PTFE, the main chemical most of these sealants claim to use:

Oddly, it seems that rights to the patent 5,081,171 were purchased in 1993 by Enercy Conservation International.

http://www.secinfo.com/dUU93.9k.htm

That SEC 10-Q form identifies "Vision Marketing Group" as a former name of "Energy Conservation International". Well, if you like conspiracy theories, VMG LLC is a company that trains and supports the finance departments of car dealerships ... the guys that sell you paint sealant treatments...

And here is a statement about the patent by 5 Star Shine:

So they reformulated back in 92... interesting. I would add one more Teflon paint treatment to the mix:

Glipstone

Had it put on my LX470 and it looks great after a year. Hoping it will hold up like the claims say.

PolySteel is a good product to protect the paint and the value of your car.  I have used PolySteel on my last two Lexus and similar products on all my cars.  I have never used the interior protection plan.   I also try to use a "brushless" car wash as I feel the others cause abrasion and dull the finish.  When I buy an expensive car, I want to take good care of it. I  find my Lexus superior to the other cars, Lincolns and Cadillacs, I have owned.  The service and staff are superior.

I hope this helps.
