lavinci7 Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 I have a 1992 es300 with over 200k. I got the check engine light so I went on to check it and it turned out to be "catalytic converter below threshold". The mechanic said it would run me about 300$ to repair it. Now the thing is, I'm kind of short on cash for the moment, and I was wondering what's gone happen if I keep delaying to fix this for another month. I'm already driving on the CEL light for a month. What are my chances of driving like this for another month? I just got fuel injection and emmission flush, car drives kind of sluggish. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
camlex Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I think you can wait. If you don't need state inspection soon. good luck
George_Jetson Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Could you please elaborate on what a emmision flush is? I have not heard of that term before.

George Jetson, I don't really know myself, that's just what it says on my receipt from the mechanic (fuel injenction and emmission flush). I'm afraid I'm not a car expert. I've also noticed a weird sound coming out from the hood when I turn the steering wheel left or right on park. What do you guys think?
George_Jetson Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 The steering noise could be a loose belt. As far as the engine, it is not possible to tell without details. There could be problems that will get worse if you continue to drive it.
SKperformance Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 start buy buying some seafoam and search for how to use it . It may help.
