is the overdrive button turned off?

yes the overdrive button is on selecting overdrive to work at least the overdrive off light is not illuminated on the instrument panel and the light does work when selecting overdrive off and on.

this could be one or more of 11 different things,... have the codes checked. REALLY, 11 different things. and thats JUST electrical, a few more mechanical!

Your Engine Control Unit (ECU) or Speed sensor #1 bad or throttle position sensor. ECU is located under passenger feet and #1 sensor on transmission housing tail and throttle positon sensor on top of engine, throttle air intake.
