SKperformance Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Not really, an aftermarket alarm will look for a full openclosed circuit not a partial resistance one which may stop the slight voltage loss by sucking up its power.
jcrome04 Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 Not really, an aftermarket alarm will look for a full openclosed circuit not a partial resistance one which may stop the slight voltage loss by sucking up its power. So you're saying the aftermarket alarm system MAY fix it?? The local audio/alarm place wants +$350 to install it with the remote start system. Ridiculous. If I have it installed I'll have to have someone I know that works there install it under the table B)
amcdonal86 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Dang, that sucks. I'm not trying to be an !Removed!, but are you sure you didn't get an ECU that had the same issue? Can the dealership test quickly (and cheaply) for a multiplexing ECU again?
jcrome04 Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 I got a brand new OEM in box from the factory ECU... lol... They are doing whatever needs to be done. I'm leaving it there till it's fixed since they aren't charging me yet :D
amcdonal86 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 D'oh!!!!! :snoooorrrtttt: You are very brave to leave your car at a shop to "do whatever needs to be done"!
jcrome04 Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 They figured out my Driver's door switch is going out! Cute. Here's something interesting... They told me that before they installed the ECU. The alarm system wouldn't even arm. The red security light never came on. But since the new ECU has been in it IS arming now and the light is coming on. So now the Bad door switch keeps tripping the alarm soooo.... It's just money right?? B) haha Driver's Door Switch, Part #: 69040-50120 $220.10 http://www.parts.com//oemcatalog/index.cfm...or&siteid=2 At my local dealer.... $380.03!!!!
amcdonal86 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 $220 is still crazy expensive for a door switch. What the heck is Lexus doing with these things? They obviously don't even last very long!
jcrome04 Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 well I'm PRAYING this does the trick.. I mean I love my LS to death... but can't really afford to keep spending this kind of money on nothing.. I'd just about have spent enough to do the timing belt/water pump service!!!
SKperformance Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Take apart the latch on the door switch and fix the contact it is only a strip of metal for a contact.
jcrome04 Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 Too late, switch will be here on Wed ;) haha. :fingers crossed:
