Bumper Damage Estimate Of $700

I have a 2001 Lexus IS300 with slight bumper damage, some deep scratches and a broken reflector. The estimate came to around $700. The damage was caused by a neighbor backing out into my car in our parking garage, so he barely side swiped it causing some deep scratches and a broken reflector with no dents or dings.

Does anyone know what the collision center typically does to repair such damage? Do they remove the whole bumper and repaint the whole thing? I'm curious because the price seems rather extravagant for such minor damage.

And now the rep from the collision center is asking me if I want the rock chips repaired, wouldn't the chips be repaired anyway if the process of repairing involves removing the bumper completely and repainting it?

Depending on the severity of the scratches and other damage, the collision center will either repaint the bumper cover, or replace the cover and paint it.

$700 sounds fine to me...for that price, I am guessing they will just be repainting your existing bumper cover and not replacing it.

I got rear ended and they replaced the whole bumper and painted it the total was $777 something so more than likely because of the scratches in the plastic (depending how deep they are) they will replace it

i Also backed into my brother and it sounds like the same situation broken light and whatnot, and i'm only being charged $125 because i know the guy and he painted my entire car so he is helping me out. check the clip on the inside closest to the wheelwell and see if it is broken if it is then they will want to replace the whole bumper.
