sc4sooner Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 hey guys, im looking at putting in a new TC and im trying to figure out what stall speed would b best for faster take off, but also doesnt compermise normal city driving comfort. Does anyone know what the stall speed is on the OEM TC on my 92 SC4 is so i have a baseline? Also does anyone have any recommendations as to what the best stall speed would be? Thanks
UCF3 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 beats me. Never changed it on the old LS. Did Lextreme's site mention anything? http://www.lextreme.com/tc.htm
sc4sooner Posted January 19, 2009 Author Posted January 19, 2009 no he just tells you what he changes it to, he never mentions what it was.
GrnHrnt Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Stall speed on 2000 model year OEM transmissions are 2700+- 150rpm for the A340E and 2250 +- 150 rpm for the A650E.
sc4sooner Posted January 24, 2009 Author Posted January 24, 2009 does anyone know is this the same for earlier models such as my 92? also other then trying to locate the ID plate on my tranny how would i know which model i have?
smooth1 Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 2700??? No way. The stock tc's are max 1800 rpm. I would get one atleast 2700-3500 rpm stall speed tc's. And if you really want to be able to launch add a tranny brake!

These values are also referenced several times in the diagnostics pages (DI-336,DI402) of the same factory manual.

Then why would you need to modify the tc? the A650E that comes in the IS300 I know for sure isn't 2250 stall speed. I have a Level 10 tc with a 2800 rpm tc, and the stock one was measured by Level 10 at 1700 rpm.
