racketcollector Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Hi- I'm sure this topic has been discussed before on here... My LOW TIRE light will come on even if my pressure is normal. Probably due to the change in temp I'm assuming? LEXUS said they were 30psi--so they made them 32psi last week. The light came on again this am. Am I doomed to keep checking them every week or two during the winter? LEXUS offered to replace with NITROGEN...said it should help. Ideas? Opinions? Its not my spare tire, because its just a donut spare. Thanks!
NicLX470 Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Don't know if this will help but that happened to me when I first got my car even before I drove off of the lot. And the service manager checked it out and the TPMS was set to "2nd set" Which means that you can program a set of winter tires or anything of the sort. So it always will think they are low because they have not been set into the system. I guess see if they are set to "1st set" using the switch next to the interior light dimmer switch...which I think is called a satellite switch.
ksJoe Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Here's something you could try - Inflate your tires to about 3-5psi BELOW where you want them to be. Reset the pressure monitor (so it thinks that is all the way up). Fill your tires the rest of the way up to where you want them. Now instead of the light coming on when you lose 4 psi, it come on when you lose 7-9 psi.
mr_raider Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 LEXUS offered to replace with NITROGEN...said it should help. You need to give Lexus a lesson in physics. All gases expand and contract the same with temperature.
tex2670 Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 You say the tires were @ 30, but not low. I don't have the doorjamb right in front of me--isn't proper pressure 35/37? 30 is low.

Suzeroo IS spare doesn't have a sensor (unless this changed in '09)
NicLX470 Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 IS spare doesn't have a sensor (unless this changed in '09) Correct....no sensor for spare in 2009
racketcollector Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 It went off on its own and hasnt come back on. As far as the spare tires goes, I have a basic donut type tire, so it definitely doesnt have a sensor. Not sure about other models out there. I was told to check that if it were a legit spare tire. I'm pretty much just going to keep the pressure up a little higher.
