BlackLex Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 I have a leak on my coolant reservoir can I repair or do I have to replace? My car is a 94 LS
wwest Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 I can't believe the replacement cost could possibly be more that your DIY repair time.
BlackLex Posted December 30, 2003 Author Posted December 30, 2003 how about a little JB weld for plastic 5-7 Dollars. My time removing,aplying weld,reinstall= 1 Hr. 40 dollars an hour my time $ 47.00 total Resevoir - $130.00 + 45min. my time = $ 160.00 total
VBdenny Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 My opinion is that the coolant reserve tanks is improperly marked. Try leaving you fluid a little lower when cold and it will probably stop leaking. This is fairly common in early LS models I think. whenever I fill mine to the cold mark, it leaks. If I leave it just above the low coolant senosr, it stays the same, doesn't leak, doesn't overheat, and works perfectly. Denny
BlackLex Posted January 3, 2004 Author Posted January 3, 2004 I noticed the same thing when I bought the car there was no leak and no coolant low light on. but as soon as I addedd a cup or so to bring it up to minimum it started to leak and the light came on for a min. or so I left it alone and the level went below the minimum about a 1 1/2" and it's not going any lower and now my light never comes on . I read another post weeks ago that said maybe there was air in the line. I drained the radiator and refilled but it did not help. I think I'll take your advice and do nothing .Like the old saying ignore it and it will go away. Thank you VBdenny!!!
