It should recover by going up and then maybe a little up and down motion but not bouncy up and down. Do this on all 4 corners. Also, inspect each shock for any signs of leakage of fluid. You could also go by mileage. Around 50,000 sometimes is recommended, and it will improve your ride, but depending on your finances you may be able to go alot longer.
