acf Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Any scratches you can "feel" cannot be removed by hand? I got a few new doozies that I'm not very happy about.
SW03ES Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 True. Lots of scratches you can't feel cannot be removed by hand either. Takes an orbital or rotary buffer to wetsanding and repainting for some.
SKperformance Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 actually it is , feel by catching on your nail not hand. and if it does catch then it is too deep to be buffed out.
VBdenny Posted December 30, 2003 Posted December 30, 2003 I'll cast my vote for true. I'm not sure why, but for me it often seems easier to feel defects in paint than see them.
DavidB Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 Generally speaking, if you can feel it with a finger nail, it's not going to come out all the way. Technically, if the scratch has not penetrated the clear coat into the color coat, you should be able to remove all visible signs of the scratch. To do so requires two grades of polish: a fine rubbing compound (scratch remover) and a gloss enhancing paint polish to restore full gloss. db
