jweiss Posted December 17, 2003 Posted December 17, 2003 The 2 remote keys on my 2000ES weren't working when pressing either door or trunk buttons. Checked batteries- were perfect, and cleaned inside with rubbing alcohol. When I put them together, they work sometimes, and at other times not. Partly depends on what part of button I push. Is there a trick to putting the parts together that might make a difference? There doesn't seem to be much flexibility because the 2 screws for battery case and the outer screw can only be fixed in a certain way.
amf1932 Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 The contacts in the key may be oxidized. I would get a contact cleaner from a place like Radio Shack and try that. http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?cata...ct%5Fid=64-4315
Lextech2k3 Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 try replacing the batteries anyway...if they are the originals they are due to be replaced just the same.
amf1932 Posted December 18, 2003 Posted December 18, 2003 That's true also. Checking Nickel Oxide batteries is sometimes inaccurate. They might test good, but they're not.
jweiss Posted December 22, 2003 Author Posted December 22, 2003 Followed the advice and changed the battery. PERFECT! Thanks
amf1932 Posted December 22, 2003 Posted December 22, 2003 Would you believe that I had the original batteries in my key remote for my '94ES, and that was after using this key for almost 9 years! Also, I never changed a bulb in the entire car! That's the truth. ;)
SW03ES Posted December 23, 2003 Posted December 23, 2003 Batteries and bulbs are really a fluke. Sometimes like with Alan they'll last forever, sometimes they need to be replaced constantly... Whenever the remote doesn't work quite right, always change the batteries first. 9 times out of 10 thats whats wrong.
Lex3486 Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 I've noticed that it seems that my remote (93) works better if I hold the key with the button facing up..anyone else ever noticed this or am I losing it? lol
