bgbellji
1994 LS 400. When cold I notice a noisy clunk in the front wheel well areas, when I hit a dip or bump. I have the air ride and the shocks seem to be in working order, no leaks no drop in the mornings. I only have 69,000 miles on. I had heard that it may be the front control arm. It drives great, no shakes, smooth ride and all. Funny that after it warms up and I drive it a while the noise goes away. When it's cold is when it's real noticable. Any suggestions or comments appreciated.
90LS400Lexus
Sounds like worn bushings in the front struts.
BlackLex
;) It may be that the sway bar bushings need lubrication. I had some noise In front too going over speed bumps or the like. I used a silicone spray after craig on this forum suggested I use a silicone based greese. The sounds went away for me.. Goodluck!
mickg
I had the same noises and creaks when cold, and sprayed the front stabilizer bushings with CRC silicone. Perfect solution. No more creaks and thumps. Mick
ThunderRiver
Is there a guide with pictures and tell you how to apply silicons? My 1994 LS400 has noise too.. Is it bad if I don't address it?
mapman
Have a 91 LS400 it also has clunk when i run over rough spots till i drive a few miles . I have replaced one control arm and that side does not have the noise. I think i read a service bulletin that there had been a bushing change or something on the control arm to eliminate the clunk.
