Unknown Noise From Inside

I have a 1999 RX300 that has had one owner my dad. He passed away in Jan, and I bought his RX300 from my step-mother. The car is in great shape. However, I keep hearing this odd sound from around the center console. It sounds like the Multi disc CD player is hung up, but it is coming from near the passenger side air bag and air vent. Could be similar to a dash rattle and is fairly loud. It is hard to describe. I thought it only happened when the air conditioner was on, but now it happens even when it is off. Has anyone had this problem? If so, what can I do and what might the cost be for this repair?

Yep, I know that sound well. It's a part of the air duct control system and it has to do with contact points on the actuator (from what I've read). It sounds like a crazy CD changer shuffling discs all over the place. Mine does it, but the ducting system works fine, so I live with it. Here's another thread on it: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=13289

Thank you for the help. I appreciate it more than you know.

I have the same problem but it's solved now.

Be careful not to break the clip; but if you did just like I did, just tie it with a zip ties; it works.
