How Long To Get Rid Of Check Engine Light After Fuel Tank Cap Was Repl

Recently I fill up in a gas station, and forgot to put the gas cap on.

The worst part is that the cap is not attached to the vehicle like all other cars I drove, so it dropped somewhere.

I found it when the check engine light came on after a day. So, I had to replace it from Oreilly's.

I still see the check engine light.

Does anyone have similar experience?

How long will it take to have proper gas tank pressure and get rid of that light?

Disconnect the neg. battery terminal for 5 minutes and reconnect, CEL Gone

Ok will try that once I get off from work.

I am just afraid whether the Oreilly's after market ($8) gas cap is good replacement for the lexus dealer's $25 gas cap.

Even if you disconnect the bat terminals, the code will remain in the ECS for 40 starts (you just do not see it). After that, if okay, it will be erased from the ECS memory.
