Claude7629 Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I was looking thru the trunk area for the first time. I found the jack, first aid kit, tool kit and something else. I looks like a large eye bolt. Can anyone tell me what this is and whats it used for?
ZackDuchene Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 It is probably used to tow the car. There is a small panel on the outside of the bumper that you can pop off and screw that into...I remember seeing it in the owners manual. Look under towing or replacing the spare tire.
GDixon Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Yep, that's a towing hook. It is a little disconcerting that a supposedly very reliable car would come with a towing eye bolt. There is really nowhere to tow the car from the front end so maybe it is for tow truck use rather than ripping off the front end by connecting the towing cable elsewhere and causing more damage. In a disabling accident it might get used.
Claude7629 Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 Thanks and I hope I never have to use it.
Boxbrownie Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Hey its a Lexus.....it's for use at the rear tow eye point....for towing all those other vehicles on the road! Best regards David
