LouCoppola
I have a 2004 LS430 that on occasion (perhaps once a week to 10 days) will not allow me to turn the ignition on. It's frozen. I did the usual when this occurs and that is to grab the steering wheel and try turning it back and forth as I have done in the past with my previous Lexus. But with this car when this happens, it is not successful. The only way I could get the car to eventually start was to just wait a few minutes while the red and green lights blinked back and forth and try again. After a couple of minutes it would start. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening.
djspawn00
Do you have a lot of keys on your keychain? I recall somewhere on this forum that the excess weight put extra strain on the mechanism. I don't know why this happens but I've had the issue with my GS. I dabbed a lil graphite grease onto the key and so far I haven't had the problem, however I do not know if it is actually remedied of if its just laying low waiting to catch me off guard. Sanpete
As I recall, the user's manual (for a 98, but shouldn't matter) warns that other metal objects too close to your key can interfere with the transponder. Try the key by itself (not on a keychain) if you haven't already.

THANKS FOR THE REPLY BUT ACTUALLY I USE THE SMART KEY (NO KEY INSERTED) SYSTEM SO NO KEY IS INSERTED.
