mosibobo
Hello. I have a 2001 Gs430 and I was hoping someone could tell me if it would be safe for my car to put loud exhaust on it. I've heard that sometimes engines require some type of backpressure supplied by the stock exhaust to perform properly. Is this true? Thanks !!!! Mosh
Hello. I have a 2001 Gs430 and I was hoping someone could tell me if it would be safe for my car to put loud exhaust on it. If you buy a cat-back system designed for that car, you will be fine. Magnaflow, Borla, Flowmaster, Apexi, etc, are all great companies. You could even have one made with whatever muffler you choose. I would recommend that you not run straight pipes, simply for the fact that it will most likely sound like crap. You don't want to be a ricer/hillbilly, do you? ;)
A_GS300
"Mosh" is right. You should stick to manufacturers with good reputation and designed for that car. Running straight pipes and unknown mufflers could lead to loud dronning within the cabin let alone on the outside. As to performance wise, unless you or your exhaust shop know exactly what to do and/or willing to trial an error, stick to those that are known on the market for that car.
