gabep
Look for broken wires in the trunk loom. I found that in a Toyota after 3 days of trouble shooting.

erw38
I had the same problem. Turned out the wires that go to the trailer wiring plug were frayed. I spliced them back together and taped them up with electrical tape. Been a little more then a week and no lights on the dash. BTW - None of my rear bulbs were out either. Willemh
top / third brakelight?
lenore
I had the same thing, sometimes the bulb has a filament that is broken but wandering around and making contact. I found that the top third brakelight is usually the culprit. Change the bulb and problem went away.
