commercialbrokerage Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 I recently bought a pair of taiwanese LED trunk lights..they work great however they are making my "light out" dash indicator come on. I did a search on here and found that some aftermarket lights sometimes do that. Is there an easy fix or do I have to buy another pair that are "version 2" if I do have to buy another pair any suggestions where I can go so I dont get another defective one? thanks
stevechod Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 I think the light out indicator only comes on when you turn your headlights on? am I correct? because if so I don't believe there is anything you can do about it, except to do some special wiring.
CarbonGS Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 you are going to need load resistors. http://www.automotiveled.com/ the thing is that LED's use less energy than normal halogen bulbs. so the draw of power is less making your light ecu think that it is not getting enough power. each bulb will need a specific resistor. it can get costly. it is a pity they don't tell you this when you purchase the lights themselves.

I went ahead and just got the OEM trunk lights (saves me the hassle)
shawnberry45 Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 you can just use bulbs with those LED Tail lights???What kind do you have? you are going to need load resistors. http://www.automotiveled.com/ the thing is that LED's use less energy than normal halogen bulbs. so the draw of power is less making your light ecu think that it is not getting enough power. each bulb will need a specific resistor. it can get costly. it is a pity they don't tell you this when you purchase the lights themselves. thanks for your help guys, I am a little irritated at the ebay seller because he never mentioned that in his listing!! SKperformance Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Sounds like he only bought LED bulbs and not a complete housing swap with strips of leds instead.
