Differential Oil

Does anyone use Mobil 1 differential oil for your car? It's rated at 75-90W fully synthetic. The shop manual called for 90W above zero degree F and 80-90W when below zero degree.

I think that thier may be other questions to be answered here.

1. Are the front and rear differentials the same.

2. Do either of the differentials have limited slip features. ( My rear feels as if it does )

3. Do you have locking Differentials. ( I Don't )

In all reality, you can't go wrong with the Mobil 1 Product. The Amsol Would be a better choice if you tow a trailer.

I am going to check out # 2 tonight.

Where are you located that your time is 4 hours later than mine???

Almost Forgot. Always remove the FILL PLUG before you remove the DRAIN PLUG

Agreed, same oil rating according to the shop manual.

Not the best LSD, but it's there.

I have factory diff locks.

Just replaced front and rear differential oil on my LX450. If you decide to do it yourself, get an oil suction/pump gun (looks similar to a grease gun except there's a platic tube at the end), it will make the job a lot easier.

I have a 99 ls400 and just changed my Diff. Fluid yesterday. Just like the 450, the manual said:

90W or 80-90W for below 0.

I live in KC area and wanted to use full synthetic so I put in CASTROL 75-90W. I think it will be superior to any petroleum based fluid. Use Amsoil 5-30 Synthetic motor oil.

I agree the pump is probably a better way. I had to run a clear hose from the fill plug up over the RR tire and fill that way. About 1.5 quarts. Once it started to overrun the fill hole, I let it drip to a stop and and replaced plug.

Yeah, the spare tire is really in the way. That's good idea to run a long hose as you suggested. In the LX 450, the rear differential takes 3.4 quarts!
