  1. Now that I replaced the Fuel Filter and most of the problem of Cold Miss under light acceleration is cured, I want to check out the Coolant Temperature sensor. Thanks in Advance Tom
  2. Always started fine. Ran Fine when warmed up. Had a sporatic miss during mild acceleration when cold, during the first 2-3 miles. Replaced plugs, wires cap & rotor which did improve the warm idle. I am going to pull the EGR valve next for a goood cleaning. 1997 LX450 78,000 miles
  3. Well, Just replaced the Fuel Filter. It is attached to the Underside of the Intake Manifold. Two bolts with 12mm Heads hold it secure to the Intake manifols and two Banjo Bolts with 17mm heads attach the fuel lines. I fould that removing the front left tire and lifting the inspection flaps were a Big Help in geting access. Took about 2 hours and 47 Prohibited words. Live and learn. Tom
  4. Would really appreciate the actual location. I searched around the Gas Tank but found nothing. Looked along the fuel lines and nothing again. Is it mounted up on the fuel rail??? Thanks in Advance. Tom
  5. Only when first started in the morning. For the first mile, the engine will sporatically miss while under light acceleration. Anyone had this fixed, what was it?? Thanks in Advance Tom 1997 LX450 77,444 miles
  6. Well, I'm finally tired of the Wuss Looking front of my 97 LX450. I have seen many Grill Guards on eBay but want recommendations of ones that fellow board members have. Thanks Tom
  7. Mine did this when I first bought it. with 70K on the clock I proceeded to diagnose that the ATF was SPENT, it wasn't burnt, just dark fluid with no smell. So, I would dump the contents of the pan and replace with 4 qts about every 3 weeks. Yes, I know it is only suppose to be 2 or 2.5 qts but mine does 4. After the 6th drain and refill the ATF began to drain out with the smell of ATF, it is still somewhat dark and will require about 4 more dumps before I get to the point where I dump it at every oil change. Also, the very minute leak has gone away as the seals are swelling back to normal size. I am on my 3rd case of Mobil generic DIII fluid from COSTCO and will probably keep using the stuff. The Spool Up problem is gone now.
  8. Living in Doylestown PA Car spent the first 5 years in Boston That is part of the problem Where are you from?? Tom
  9. For some reason, I think that the Steeing Wheel from a LS400 also Fits a LX450 of the same year. Has anyone done this to a 1997 LX450. Thanks in Advance Tom
  10. I was going to repaint them, but the Chrome ones at Pep Boys look Really Good. Has anyone else done anything about this. This is somewhat of a Follow Up to the Hub Cap Painting Project from a Few Weeks Back. Tom
  11. I really am disappointed on how many of the esterior screws on my car are getting rusty. I started out with a Box each of Hex Head M8 / M6 / Washers / Lock Washers / M6 Oval Heads. I am trying to circumnavigate problems down the road when repair becomes a necessity. Has anyone else noticed the amount of Rust on these Vehicles. Body Looks Good, Everything else needs Repainting. Tom
  12. of what this looks like on a LX450?? Is it really worth the $ 20 Thanks Tom
  13. I really haven't looked for one yet, but do I have an air filter on the interior Heating and Cooling System. Thanks Tom
  14. With the Blower on Low it just goes bip clip blip. With the Blower on High it really makes a racket. So, should I pull out the CD Drive and look for screws. Tom
  15. Compared to other cars, my 1997 LX450 is like getting into a Candle Lit room. The front light, which isn't controlled by the door switches, is brighter. I would like to hear if anyone has added lighting to improve this. Tom
  16. Depending on Transmission in Neutral or Drive & A/C Compressor Off / On. I thought the Idle Speed Control Valve was there to control this. Tom
  17. Since I am putting the truck in NEW CONDITION, Should I take it to the local Transmission Guru.
  18. I have never had this happen in any other car that I have ever owned in my life. When I pull up to the gas pump, and unscrew the gas cap, the air rushing past the cap into the gas tank lasts about 5 to 6 seconds. This is really unusual. It is almost acting as if the intale manifold is directly attached to the gas tank. Any thoughts would be helpful. Tom
  19. It would be interesting to know how many miles are on your vehicle. Mine doesn't exhibit that problem. Mine moves along quite smartly compared to my 7 series BMW. By the way, Thank You for the FAX. It really helped. Which Manual is that, it looks fairly informative. Again Thanks Tom
  20. From mid September till about a few days ago. GONE - WHAM - VAPORIZED S.H.
  21. There is nothing like having a Picture. Well, I was greasing the drive shafts anticipating adding grease to the ball shaped joint is each front wheel which allows the wheel to steer and the suspension to flex ( Please let me know when you know what I am talking about ). I previously read to remove the plug and add a large amount of grease until it comes back out of the hole. Cool. I'm ready. But which plug is it and how do I get to it. Do I have to remove the front wheel, the brake disk, or can I do it from under the car. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks P.S. Pictures are worth a thousand words. Tom
  22. So What!!! I was poking around, Again. What is the Heat Exchanger located in front of the AC Condensor, on the drivers side ( LH Drive that is ). It measutes about 12" x 12", it's Black, and it doesn't get warm on my LX450. Is this an engine Oil Cooler or a Transmission Oil Cooler. Whatever it is doing, it isn't doing much, since it isn't getting Warm. It thier some type of temperature control valve somewhere that is frozen in one position??? Any insight is appreciated. PS, I Fixed my Dim Rear Dome Light, the one that would turn the Headlights back on when the rear window was opened. It was a Burnt Ground lead through a connector in the LH side of the Tail Gate. Next. Tom
  23. Good Question!! I think that thier may be other questions to be answered here. 1. Are the front and rear differentials the same. 2. Do either of the differentials have limited slip features. ( My rear feels as if it does ) 3. Do you have locking Differentials. ( I Don't ) In all reality, you can't go wrong with the Mobil 1 Product. The Amsol Would be a better choice if you tow a trailer. I am going to check out # 2 tonight. Where are you located that your time is 4 hours later than mine??? Best Regards, Tom Almost Forgot. Always remove the FILL PLUG before you remove the DRAIN PLUG
  24. Well, it,s me again. Waiting for the rain to stop so that I can fix a small electrical problem. If familiar with how you can leave the headlight switch in either of the on positions, and they will turn off automatically while exiting the vehicle. Mine does that perfectly, but with no delay. Don't most vehicles hold the headlights on for 15 to 30 seconds after the door is opened?? But my problem is this. If I open the rear hatch, the lights turn back on and STAY ON !! I traced the problem to the ground side of the Hatch Latch Switch. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, or has fixed same, but my plan is to pull the latch and repair the switch. But, while I'm waiting, I was wondering, How steady is your HOT IDLE ( engine warmed up )?? Mine runs anywhere from 625 RPM to 950 RPM. I thought the ICV was supposed to control the speed. My BMW runs 700 RPM on the Mark!!!!! No Deviation for anything. Your comments will, as always be Greatly Appreciated. Best Regards, Tom 1997 LX450 Green / Beige 70,000 miles
  25. All factory Sun Roofs that I have seen can not seal out rain. They depend on the drain to route the water out. My BMW is 16 years old with the original seal, with which I never have water inside. Tom
