xerxes717
Hi all, I just ordered an IS350 with the X Package. Somehow, I don't like the 5 spoke rims that come with and much prefer the stock 18s. As far as I know, most people like the 5 spoke X Package wheels more. I told the dealer to take off the 5 spokes and replace them with the cheaper stock 18s (I doubt he'll reduce the price). Am i making a mistake? I'd love it everyone could chime in and let me know which they prefer - 5 spokes or stock 18s. Pictures below for reference: X Package : Some other pictures of the X package wheels from another member here Stock Wheels: Some comments from my girlfriend: "The stock wheels look like they're from a minivan" wtf?? "The stock 18s will be harder to clean, esp given lots of brake dust." "The graphite finish of the X pack is nicer than the alloy stocks 18s and it looks more upscale, the stock ones look like cheap wheels." "The x pack wheels show more of the brake discs and that's a plus." Thanks!
terry993
Your GF is a keeper - I agree with everything she says. I have the stock 18" because that's what it came with off the boat.
SilverSport
I kept the stock wheels for my snow tires and got the G-spider wheels for my performance tires. I like the G-spider wheels better than either the stock or the 5-spoke. Brake dust just happens.
BostonKiller
Heh, I'm in the same boat (well, sort of). I'd like to have the X-package, but I do like the stock 18s better...
Rx330driver
if the stock rims came with the graphite polish, then those would be the winner
Minh
No question for me. I would take the X-Package in a heartbeat. Does your GF have a sister?? :whistles: Just kidding.
xerxes717
Heh no sister, but she's really flattered ;) Btw the way things lie right now only reinforces my dilemma: there are exactly 5 votes a piece for either set of wheels. However, I do think that the pictures don't do the X-package wheels justice. They're MUCH nicer in real life and I think I'm going to stick with them for now at least. I asked the dealer to price out a new set of stock 18s and he said $2600!! I was considering getting those with winter tires later this year but that much money for stock rims is insane! iceache
I'd pick the stock wheels. I don't think the x-package wheels go with the car. They remind me more of the IS300's.... that's just my opinion. The break dust is a pain either way.
