Brendon Bosy
I'm trying to get some understanding on the differences between the late 1UZ-FE engine (what I have) and the current 3UZ-FE engine in the SC430. Here is what I got so far: 1UZ-FE (1998-2000) 290 HP @ 6000 RPM 300 ft-lbs @ 4000 RPM 3UZ-FE (using old testing methods) 300 HP @ 5600 RPM 325 ft-lbs @ 3400 RPM From what I've read, Lexus rated the last of the SC400s at a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds. The current SC430 has a 0-60 time of 6 seconds. It also weighs a good 200-300 lbs more than the old SC400s. So why does the SC430 accelerate much better than the SC400 (it only produces 10 more HP and weighs a hell of alot more)? That being the case, is it feesible to swap in the 3UZ engine into the SC400 and achieve a 0-60 time in the mid 5 seconds range?
schott1984
Another thing besides power and weight to consider would be the gearing of the transmission. I have no idea if the 430 has a different trans or not, but ya.

Brendon Bosy
Can the new LS460's be swapped into our SC400s? (1UR-FSE engine). 381 HP would put some serious muscle into our cars.

What about the 5.0 400hp beast that's going in the IS-F?
termin8or
This topic kind of links into one of my posts regarding engines from Japan. They are pretty cheap and are about $875 plus $125 for delivery. hats the 4.0. I was wondering the same thing about dropping in a low milage 98-2000 300HP engine. but the 4.3 or 4.6 would be even better. I wonder if the blocks are the same?
